Incompetent

Junko was in the hangar of the Condor, doing general maintenance on the skimmers. He was skilled enough that he didn't really need to focus on his work, and his mind began to wander. It wandered to his childhood. He remembered the bullying and teasing he suffered from the other wallop kids. He remembered his friend Gleep and the good times they had together. He remembered that he was an incompetent, weak buffoon until Aunt Unus passed the family heirlooms, the knuckle busters, onto him. After that day, he wasn't afraid or weak or incompetent. He showed all of those who had bullied him that he was capable and that he was strong. That day brought a smile to Junko's face. It was the second best day of his life, after joining the Storm Hawks.

Joining the Storm Hawks had been the best decision he had ever made. They had become his friends, his family. Being with them and fighting with them made him feel wanted. Accepted. Those feelings of incompetence had disappeared. He zoned back into reality. Realising that he had finished the general maintenance, he packed up his tools and placed them on the shelf. He decided to go and see what Finn was doing. Heading towards the bridge, Junko smiled, thinking how lucky he was to have such a great and loving family. And he was glad that he no longer felt incompetent. e
