The Cry of Wonderland

Prologue

Irrieanna 'The Blade' Liddell sighed as she checked her complexion one last time in the mirror.

"What's wrong?" Fayign 'The Shadow' Inez asked, appearing behind her small friend.

"Just nerves. I'm meeting some of the most important nobles in all of Wonderland today. And most of them are boys," she replied in her melodious voice.

Irrie is short, for her age, at five foot ten. Or at least in Wonderland she is, yes, in Wonderland, where the average height is six foot six. She has waist length, wavy blonde hair that is always tied into a braid. Huge blue eyes, almost unnaturally pale skin, and full, red lips.

Today she wore a simple pearl colored gown.

"Wow, I never thought I'd live to see the day that The Blade herself was nervous! I would tell someone, but no one would believe me!" Fay exclaimed.

The Shadow stood at six foot six, and completely fit her battle name. Pale skin, straight black hair that went to her shoulders –always tied into a ponytail-, black eyes, a pointy nose, and red, pouty lips. Today she wore all black.

"Oh, if you were me, you would be, too!" Irrie snapped, turning to face her friend and companion.

"Just calm down, go with the flow. And you're forgetting who's the very most important person there…you! You're Warrior Princess Irrieanna Strong Hold Liddell, the feared Blade of Wonderland! Enemies cower and shake in fear when someone so much as mentions your name! Have a little more pride, and I know you'll smack the boy that so much looks in your direction when you don't want them to. Now go! And remember I'm there with you. Or at least I'm there when you need me. Just go!"

Irrie took a deep breath and sighed a sigh that could blow away a storm, but the lightened. "Yeah, you're right. But you so owe me a few matches for making me do this on my own!"
