AN: Hey, this is just a little one-shot that came to me while attempting (failing) to write the last chap of The Birthday Present.

Quite angsty

Sick

You know I warned you, you can't say I didn't 'cause I bloody did. You weren't feeling well for a while but you still carried on, going on missions, competing with Dem in your silly little contests.

And all the while I was watching. I could see you rubbing your chest after you had been running around. Heard your laboured breathing and strained coughs.

I know nagging at you probably wasn't the best way to go about trying to persuade you to rest and at least try to get better. But I thought you would at least take some of my requests to heart and take it easy for a bit, but no! You had to actually go up to Xemnas and request for more missions.

All I can really is that it's your own fault that you are the way you are now, lying prone in our bed with me wiping the perspiration from your face with a wet cloth.

I was there you know, you probably don't though do you?

I was sent on that mission at last notice, tagging along at the back. And then all I saw was you stumble and then drop to the floor like a dead weight. You collapsed Axel, actually collapsed!

You scared me so much.

Just seeing you lying there not moving, eyes closed.

Unconscious.

We tried everything to wake you up but we think you hit your head when you fell.

I hated it Ax.

When we got you back Zexion looked over you and confirmed that you had just exhausted yourself and the illness that you've been fighting had managed to get a proper foothold in your body.

I've been at your bedside now for ten hours. In that time you have hardly moved, except from fevered mumblings.

I smile to myself as I brush some strands of your hair from where they have stuck to your forehead.

The fever kicked in a few hours after you got back, I feel so helpless. Because all I can do it sit, wait and try to get your temperature down using cold water and a cloth.

I feel so helpless.

It's been two days now Ax and I have yet to leave your bedside.

Your body is back down to an alright temperature now but your fever is still there. Zex said you should be waking up soon now that your fevers down. God I hope you do.

Please, just at least move or open your eyes.

Hell even a twitch of your finger would do fine

Please, for me?

Four days Ax.

Four.

You can hear me can't you?

Please, Ax. Try twitching your fingers, or flickering your eyelids, or even rolling over.

Yes, that's it.

I grab your hand, feeling the muscles flexing beneath mine.

Come on love, for me. Just open your eyes.

I watch your face intently, a smile growing on my face as I see your eyelids fluttering.

Come on, open your eyes.

Open them for me.

Your foggy emerald gaze meets mine, I can't stop the grin that tugs at my lips.

You look so adorable, like a lost kitten. Just sat there blinking.

"…Rox..as.."

Your voice is so croaky, well I'm not really surprised after not using it for four days and the sore throat you must have.

I smile as I pass you the glass of water, watching you sipping it carefully, still not fully awake.

I climb onto the bed next to you, clutching you to me.

"I told you, you would get sick Ax." I say as I stroke your hair.

"But I'm so glad you're finally awake."

AN: I don't really like the ending but oh well.

Lemme know what you think, please review :)
