Lily and James hurried to get out from the terrible weather. When they reached Lily's house they cut across the lawn, laughing and holding hands. Lily felt silly holding this boy's hand, but it felt nice. A warm feeling filled her stomach every time he took her hand in his. It was funny to think that it was only a few months ago when she fully detested him and his friends. She was glad for the change.
Now James let her hand go and took the porch stairs two at a time. Lily quickly followed and was relieved to finally be out of the cold rain. Involuntarily she shivered, causing her teeth to chatter slightly.
"Here, take my jacket. It's not soaked all the way through." James crossed to her, removing his jacket. Blushing, Lily pulled her eyes from the blue t-shirt stretched across his chest and looked to his face. She blushed harder when she saw James' smirk. Thankfully, he didn't mention her staring.
"Come here," he said barely loud enough to be heard over the rain. Timidly, Lily took several more steps to close the distance between them. His muscled arms reached round her and gently wrapped the worn leather jacked around her shaking shoulders. "There," he said, laying his big hands on her shoulders. "Are you alright?" Concern wrinkled his fine forehead.
"Fine. Just - just a little cold." Lily smiled up at her boyfriend. "Thanks for the jacket."
James nodded and wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close and holding her. It felt nice to have his body warmth, but that warmth was making Lily's stomach flutter. She rested her head on his warm chest, circled her arms around him, and let her body relax. Hugging James was nice.
She looked up to his face and was slightly surprised how close their faces were. James eyes were half closed, looking down and watching her carefully. She felt his arms relax some, but she didn't move hers from around him.
Slowly, James' hand brushed her cheek and set it on fire. Surly he'd be able to hear her heartbeat if he couldn't feel it. He brought up his other hand to her other cheek and Lily closed her eyes and sighed at the slight touch. She opened her eyes and stared into James' hazel eyes.
Hesitantly, Lily lifted her chin ever so slightly. James' face seemed to drop towards hers, but it was hard to tell, the movement was so small. But Lily was certain that he had moved, and her eyes fluttered close. Her heart was pounding in her chest and her stomach was doing summersaults. After a moment, she was almost going to open her eyes, but James' lips pressed against hers.
She stiffened for a second before relaxing again. James seemed hesitant, but soon applied more pressure on her sensitive lips. She kissed him back, softly, molding her lips to his.
She pulled back and smiled up at her boyfriend. Her first kiss.
