AN: Written for HPFC's Five Things Challenge. I own nothing.
Dear 'Toire,
You already know this, but you are a beautiful person. You shine. You have so many options, and so many men who would be better suited for you. You shouldn't have chose me.
I'm sorry, but I don't love you, and I can't do this anymore.
I love Al.
Forgive me.
Sincerely,
Teddy
Instead he burns the letter as a lump rises in his throat. And later, he proposes.
Dear Al,
I know about the heroin. It's not a secret anymore. You've never worn long sleeves, and you won't even now. I see the junkie marks. I've gone through your pockets, I've found it.
You can't do this anymore, you've got to stop.
Tomorrow, you go to rehab, or I'm gone.
I love you.
-Ted
He doesn't give Al the letter. His heart breaks as he tosses it in the bin, and he goes and makes dinner with Victoire.
Dear Uncle Ron,
Your nephews gay, and I know you hate it.
But you still shouldn't love Al any less.
Get over it.
-Teddy
But he keeps silent as Ron writes Albus out of his will.
Dear Harry,
Thank you. I can't even begin to say it.
Thank you.
So when I break your son's heart in ten minutes when I go downstairs to propose to Victoire, please don't kill me.
Love, Ted
He pretends not to see as Albus' eyes fill with tears as the young Potter rushes from the room. He hugs Harry extra hard as they leave, trying to say more than he knows how.
Dear my Lily-kins,
You should have said something. I loved you so much; you knew this. You've broken everybody's heart. Al is destroyed. You've left us all behind.
I forgive you. I still love you, and I always will.
Victoire's pregnant. What more can I say?
Love forever,
Teddy
P.S. I'm sorry, Tiger Lily. I'm sorry.
Rather, he crumples the letter and leaves it on the floor as he straightens his tie and heads to her funeral.
And maybe later, maybe he cries.
