The Yearly 365 Challenge
Prompt #64 (Scenario) – I asked for you help getting a book off the top shelf and you laughed at my taste and called me a nerd so I shoved you into a table of nonfiction best-sellers and that's how we both got banned from the guirky community bookstore.
"Thanks a lot Fred." Hal said as he stormed down the sidewalk with his hands jammed into his jacket pockets.
"Oh come on Hal it was pretty funny." Fred said as he laughed once more. He didn't see what the big deal was. So they couldn't go into that bookstore again … there were plenty of other bookstores.
Hal stopped and swung around to look into his best friend's eyes. "Everyone has different tastes in life Fredrick Andrews." He sighed. "So what if I'm a nerd for liking something that you have no interest in."
Fred's got his laughter under control as he saw how serious his friend truly was being. He sighed. "I'm sorry that I got you banned from the book store Hal. I'm sure in a few weeks time you will be welcome back."
"We knocked over a freaking best-seller table Fred." Hal sighed deeply. "Nonfiction. There is no way that the owner will ever allow us into that store again." He sighed as he shook his head. "You knew that I have an interest in this area Fred … you have known for years … why did you have to call me a nerd today?"
"I was just having some fun." Fred shrugged his shoulders.
"No you weren't." Hal glinted his eyes. "You are jealous because you know that I share this interest with Hermione. This is one area of Hermione's life that you aren't involved in."
Fred's eyes harden. Then they soften just as much. "Come on Hermione is her own person. She doesn't always have to have all the same interest in me after all." He began walking down the street once more.
Hal started walking beside his best friend once more. He looked at the side of Fred's face. "You know she will always consider you her boy no matter what happenes. No matter whom you or she will end up falling in love and marrying."
"I don't want to talk about this anymore Hal." Fred growled.
Hal wisely knew when to keep his silence. This was the time. The two best friends walked silence down the sidewalk back closer to the center of town.
