Prologue

Valkyrie ran down the stairs and bumped strait into Skulduggery who placed one hand on her shoulder and steered her into the spacious lounge. Tanith sat in one of the chairs obviously sulking.

She stood up "Yes, I am wearing a skirt, no, I'm not happy about it."

Tanith was wearing a white blouse, black skirt and her long coat, Skulduggery (as usual) was dressed in a suit.

They piled out of the door and into the Bentley. As the drove to the solicitors the scenery zoomed past in a blur. Valkyrie opened her window slightly and let the cool autumn air rush into the car. Then, all of a sudden the car stopped. She rolled the window up and opened the door.

The solicitor was a short chubby man dressed in a suit that was too small for him, his office could be described in one word 'ANIMAL'. All the chairs were leather, the walls were decorated with a boars head and there were a pair of elephant tusk pen holders. Tanith looked shocked to see this muck dead animal in one place.

"Ah," he said when they came through the door, " so one Miss Stefanie Edgley wants too write a will leaving everything to a Miss Valkyrie Cain, yes?"

Valkyrie nodded as she was handed a pen. He carried on "And Mr and Mrs Edgley you are happy with this."

Tanith and Skulduggery nodded and they, as well, were handed pens. They signed the will and left the office bidding their farewells to both the solicitor and the receptionist.
