The Doctor didn't particularly know why he had come here, why he had decided to torture himself by visiting her statue, but he had come, to Gracilis's villa, to pay one last tribute to his Fortuna.

The Doctor cornered a slave and told him to tell Gracilis that The Doctor was visiting, the slave jumped up, and said that he'd fetch his master right away, at the word 'master' The Doctor immediately felt guilty and slipped the slave a coin, the grateful look on the slave's face almost made him feel good about himself again, that he could still make a difference, even without her by his side. Almost.

Gracilis greeted The Doctor warmly, laughing and shaking his hand before he saw the despairing look in The Doctor's eyes, and the fact that Rose was not by his side.

"Doctor? The girl you were with? Rose?" he asked falteringly
"She's... gone to a place I can't follow, can never follow, however much I want to" replied The Doctor "I... just wanted to see the statue, if that's alright" he asked, suddenly regretting his decision to come here
"Of course Doctor, I understand, if there's anything I can do..." Gracilis trailed off hopelessly, he wasn't The Doctor, he couldn't miraculously turn stone to life, but he would do the best he could do for his friend, so he led The Doctor to the statue, and left him alone.

The Doctor stared at the statue, the tears which seem to come so easily these days spilled onto his cheeks, there she was, his Rose, his Fortuna, his lucky pants, he smiled slightly at the memory of them laughing in the TARDIS after he had called her that.

She was so beautiful, his Rose, and she would be like that forever, well, The Doctor knew better now than to believe in forever, but he had this moment, The Doctor didn't know why this was so important to him, she would never hear it, but he had to finish his sentence, he took a deep breath, fought back the tears.

"Rose Tyler, I love you"

His Fortuna.
