True Love In White

"Have a bite"

an old crone whispers

one desire will be mine

once my teeth break the skin

trembling, my hand stretches

to accept my dreams in a crimson orb

thousands of wants

clamoring for attention

peace

my heart whispers

to be with my forever love, far from the cares

and tribulations of the world

as my lips caress the red skin

all other voices are drowned

as my heart is heard over all

happy my tongue rushes to taste

the flavor of almonds

bitter upon my tongue

my eyes stare in horror at the crone

my stepmother's twisted eyes smiling at me

"careful what you wish for,"

she cackles as my vision dims

and my forever love, le mort,

welcomes me with open arms
