Lord Voldemort was pulling his hair out (that is how he became bold in a later stage of his life), while he was designing the Mark he was going to burn into the skin of his death eaters.
"No, no, no! This ain't right! What's it about this, that ain't right? Rockwood! Have a look at this!"
Rockwood stumbled forward. He looked at the sketchbook that his master was practically forcing through his nose.
"Um…" Rockwood murmured, not sure what to say. Was this a trick question, or not? It was always so difficult to tell with his master.
"It isn't right?" When in doubt, always repeat what the Lord had just stated.
"It isn't right? It isn't right? I can see that! I need you to tell me what isn't right! You fool!"
"Um… perhaps it's the fact that… It's just a trivial point… not even worth mentioning…"
"What is it, you idiot?!"
"It can be the fact that it is a teddy bear? That's a little bit childish, isn't it?"
The Dark Lord looked thoughtful, for a moment.
"No…. that can't be it."
--
Several hours later, the Dark Lord called in his most confided servant (especially in the area of good looks) Lucius Malfoy.
"Lucius…. Look at this. What do you think? Is it something for the mark…?"
Lucius shuffled with his feet.
"Perhaps we should try something… more manly?"
"You mean a teddy bear is not manly….?" The Dark Lord sounded hurt.
"Well, I'm not saying that… but…" Lucius hesitated. Than he realized that this Mark was going to be burned into his skin. It had to be stylish. At very least.
"But it's NOT manly. Not manly, at all!"
The Dark Lord sighed dramatically and walked over to his bed.
"Teddykins, teddykins. Childish and now not manly…. What do they HAVE against you?"
--
The next day, the Dark Lord decided he was simply not going to give up.
"Bring Snape in here!"
Snape came.
"What is it that you wish from me, my Lord?"
"What do you think about this?"
Snape's eyes grew wide.
"Is that Teddykins? That's wonderful!"
The Dark Lord growled.
"Definitely not then."
Don't get me wrong, Voldemort liked the Snape-kid, but he just didn't have any sense of style.
