She watched it come. Willing the light to recede and allow darkness some more time.

Just another hour.

Just another minute.

It refused to heed her will and rose in spite of her. The light, soft at first, as though testing its place, but then it slowly grew in boldness and brilliance, until she could deny it no longer.

His stirring broke the stillness of the room, causing her to glance over at his form and his face. The newly penetrating light had created a glow around him and she studied him as he lay there, in the light.

She closed her eyes against the warm sunlight that now slowly caressed her body. When she opened her eyes again, she resolved to take a lesson from it. She too would rise this day, unrepentant, without hesitation or shame for her night. Now her night was over.

She would face this day, finally ready, and as she drew in a warm cleansing breath, she opened her eyes and with a new boldness spoke to the day, daring it to, "Come."
