Fade Away
By: Ally
Summary: There is none realyy..episode follow-up for Twilight...minor spoilers.
Disclaimer: If I owned NCIS, I would have convinced Sasha that the show would be nothing without her, and up her contract for another season, with a generous pay-raise. So therefore...I couldn't own this show...too bad though.
A/N: I was in tears after last night's episode...I can't get that last scene out of my mind...I...Ok, I'm gonna cry again.
Abby walked toward the willow at the far end of the cemetery. She knelt in front of the white marble marker, that marked the resting place of a dear friend. She lay a single peach colored rose on the stone. 'Special Agent Caitlin Todd - NCIS' the stone read. Abby remembered the day it happened.
Flashback
Gibbs, McGee, Tony and Ducky exited the elevator and walked into Abby's lab. The ever-cheerful Goth turned to meet the the solemn faces of her comrades. "Hey Boss-Man!" she smiled. The smile soon turned to a confused frown as she noticed that the sparkle was gone from Gibbs' ice-blue eyes.
"Abby, sit down." Gibbs' voice was even, mono-toned. Abby sat on her stool. Tony walked over to Abby's side, eyes shining with unshed tears as he placed a hand on her shoulder. "Tony? Gibbs? What's...what's going on?" Her eyes filled with tears when she realized that Kate was not among them. "No." she breathed as she shook her head slowly. "No...no...no..." Trails of black mascara ran down her cheeks. Tony squeezed her shoulder as he squeezed his eyes shut to hold back the tears, but the tears fell anyway. Gibbs stepped forward and spoke.
"Special Agent Caitlin Todd was killed in the line of duty today, at approximately 4:33 PM." Although his voice sounded empty, it was, in fact, laced with emotion. Sadness, grief and anger filled the silent air. Abby breathed in heaving sobs of air as she turned to wrap her arms around Tony. She looked up to his face, etched with sadness, and saw the tears that fell.
"She loved you." Abby whispered. "She told me so when you got sick." Tony nodded.
"I loved her too." And with that, normally strong Anthony DiNozzo lost it. He began to openly cry into Abby's hair.
End Flashback
Abby touched the headstone and blew a kiss into the wind. "I miss you Kate." Abby stood and looked around, pushing a loose strand of her black hair behind her ear. She began to walk away from the grave. She stopped when the breeze blew through her pigtails. A sad smile crossed her tear-stained face when she saw her, the ghost of Caitlin Todd standing beneath the willow tree. She waved, and smiled back at Abby. Abby just shook her head and walked away. Kate stood there for a moment, before her ghost faded away into the shadows.
End
A/N: This was originally going to be a Tony's suicide story, he killed himself to be with her. But when I got to the part where I was supposed to write about his death, I just...I couldn't. If you want to read that version, e-mail me. (E-mail is in my profile) Now I think I might make this a story where each member of the team goes to her grave and remembers the day she died...let me know if I should continue.
