Shelley had waited for as long as she could. Doctor Lam had wanted to get Daniel settled before he had visitors. But now it was getting late. Sam and Mitchell had already visited and Vala had been straight after them. Caroline had told Shelley that she didn't have to worry about what time she saw Daniel and that she stay as long as she wanted.
Shelley sat in a chair next to Daniel's bed. He'd been dozing for several hours. Waking up from time to time to have something to eat. The trip to Atlantis, going what he went through then having to come back again had taken a lot out of him.
She flicked through several pages of an air force magazine that was left on a side table. Nothing remotely interesting. Her head looked up several times, smiling at how cute Daniel looked in infirmary scrubs. On atlantis he had worn white but on his arrival had changed into blue. No medical reason for it. Probably just because this was Doctor Lam's infimary and not on Atlantis.
Shelley covered her mouth as she began to yawn.
"Hey sleepy head."
The redhead looked up, hearing the voice of her husband. She smiled, finally seeing Daniel fully awake.
"Your the one who's been asleep almost all day," she said.
She rubbed her eyes, admittingly feeling a little sleepy.
"Except from when you had visitors."
"Yeah..."
Daniel thought back to when Vala had visited him..
"I might have faked being asleep when Vala was here."
Shelley began to smile. At last it seemed that Daniel had had enough of her too.
"I was tired and she was going on a bit!" he said.
His wife tried to hide her amusement and her tiredness as she yawned again.
"Looks like you should be in bed too... What time is it?"
Shelley looked at her watch, realising just how much the time had gotten away from her.
"It almost 1am."
Daniel patted the one side of his bed, inviting Shelley to join him. Her smile grew. It had been a few weeks since they had been in bed together and who was she to turn down such an offer.
Daniel shifted to the edge of the bed, making enough for his wife. Shelley moved the wires that were attached to Daniel's fingers, monitoring his vital signs.
Shelley lay on the bed, wraping one arm around Daniel's body. The noise from the machines next to them made her head turn around. His heart rate had increased and so had his blood pressure.
"Your vitals are a little high, Doctor Jackson," Shelley said, looking up at him.
"Its really weird, you know. They only seem to go up when i'm in the prescence of this redheaded botanist."
She smiled, resting her head on Daniel's chest. Snuggling against him, he bent down, kissing the top of her head.
"I was worried about you," she whispered.
"I was worried about me too and if I wasn't.."
The redhead shook her head, not wanting him to finish his sentence.
"Don't."
He held her tighter, kissing her forehead.
Daniel stopped, not wanting to upset her anymore than she had already been upset.
"Are you going home?" he asked.
Shelley shook her head.
"I'm not going anywhere, without you." she whispered back.
Daniel's vital signs began to settle and within a few minutes, both of them were asleep.
