Clary walked into the clearing, seeing the clear portal in the middle of the grassy area. Eerie silence filled the air as Clary took in her surroundings, the clearing was large in width with trees bordering the circle. The night sky was full of stars with a half-moon directly above her head.

A twig snapped and Clary's head darted to look at it, her hand grabbing for her stele. The figure had spiky, colorful black hair. He was very tall and thin; his clothing was bright and eccentric- Clary saw a purple cape hanging from his shoulders. Magnus, he stood with his back against one of the huge oak tree's.

"Clarissa, my darling." Magnus rose a hand to wave at her, his voice was bored and his hand moved slowly, "Why are you here?"

Clary turned to look into the portal. She couldn't see any familiar figures through it, all she saw was darkness, "For Jace."

Magnus paused, "You don't say? I supposed you were here for the love of being outside at midnight."

"It's midnight?" Clary asked, stepping closer to the portal. Jace had told her that he would walk through the portal at midnight.

It was just over a week since the war in Idris. Luke, Clary, Simon, and her mother had left Idris almost immediately because Jocelyn was still not ready for Clary to be a shadowhunter. Clary had wanted to stay because, after all, it had just been revealed that Jace was not her brother, that they were free to love each other. Now, she hadn't seen him in a week.

To make it worse, technology didn't work in Idris so Clary couldn't call Jace. They had found a way to communicate, though, by fire mail. It still wasn't the same as hearing his voice. Clary stepped closer to the portal, trying to peer inside.

"Actually, it's three minutes until midnight." Magnus said. Clary nodded, but hardly heard him because as soon as he spoke- she saw figures through the portal.

Clary smiled, she recognized them instantly. She barely noticed Magnus walking up beside her, or Alec, Isabelle, Maryse, and Robert walking through the portal. She was only looking at one person, one golden-haired, arrogant person. Jace smiled - a smile, not a smirk- as he walked towards her slowly.

Clary went to hug him, but Jace had other plans as his lips caught hers and his arms wrapped around her waist- pulling her almost off the ground. Clary's bones turned into liquid as he held her, she had forgotten how much she missed him, about what his kiss could do to her. Clary wrapped her arms around his neck to pull him closer as his tongue touched her lips.

"Clary Fray, will you be my girlfriend?" Jace asked, moving his face away from her slightly, before he rested his forehead on hers, his breathing uneven from their kiss.

Girlfriend. For so long, that word would of caused them both to be dammed in hell, but now they were free to live in their own personal Heaven. Their kisses weren't forbidden, their blood wasn't the same, and their flesh wasn't mixed - they could love as they wanted to.

"Yes." Clary nodded, happier than she had ever been before as she hugged him tighter. Her head in the crook of his neck as Jace's lips kissed her temple.

"I love you, Clary." He whispered in her ear, "I love you so much."

"Jace," She pulled her head back to look at his beautiful, joy filled eyes, "I love you." I'm so excited to start loving you.
