All the Same by xXxItsDarkOutsidexXx

Disclaimer: There characters are not mine at all. But you should go read their story! Yeah for comics:

Summary: Josh and Metis are from two different worlds… does that matter?

The author would like you to note: So this has been on my computer forever. I'm pretty sure I wrote it… almost completely positive. Or I may have gotten the idea from somewhere and then wrote this in response to it. Anyway, if I didn't write it and you know that let me know, I wouldn't want to be taking credit for something that isn't mine.

Sometimes, Metis wishes he was popular.

And it sickens him because from the deep depths of his soul he hates that, because his very being is offended by the mere thought. His inner self withdraws and squirms away from it in disgust. He can feel his soul dying; being torn apart by the idea of being so shallow, by wanting to cater to others thoughts and desires, by wanting to become a figurehead for teenage society; which is, as a whole, dumb and selfish and just not something anyone in their right mind should want to do, let alone be known for leading.

Even if Josh is nice that doesn't mean the other popular kids are. They're totally different. If Josh hadn't been so good at football, he'd have never made it; he'd be "uncool". Just like Metis.

He hates that he thinks like that.

But sometimes when Josh turns his face away from Metis to talk to one of the girls or to go to a party that he himself was not invited to … Metis wants it anyways.

Sometimes, Josh wishes he was unique; like Metis.

When Josh looks back on it, sometimes he wishes he'd stayed out of football all together. He wishes he could be like Metis.

Metis, who set himself apart from most with his smart comments and intelligent stupidity. Metis, who is such a special person, compared to just about anyone else. And he's not sure how he feels about this wish, because he likes being normal. He likes parties and sports and cheerleaders, and he knows that disliking all of that is what makes Metis so different.

But sometimes he's talking to Metis; they'll talk about stuff the Josh everyone else knew would never talk about. They'll l just be hanging out like they're equals and social structure isn't something he finds himself obsessing over on a daily basis.

And he realized, as fun as hanging out with Metis is, he can't help but be content with the way he is.

He likes to be cool.
