AN: So it's me again... I'm on a role!
Disclaimer: Don't own Life With Derek or "I Won't Give Up" by Jason Mraz.
Derek burst into Casey's room. Being an 'adult' in college didn't change his manners. It only aggravated the lack them because now they were living together in Queens, with no parents or siblings to scold him. Besides Casey.
"I have something to say," he looked like a man on a mission.
She didn't even take her eyes off her homework though. She just answered, "Shoot."
"I know this is fucked up-"
"Language," she scolded (she was worst than any parent) and gave him full attention.
He ignored her. "We've been living in this bubble for far too long. We don't hate each other; we don't even dislike each other! When times get rough I know you think of me to help you, and that's okay, because I think of you too. I mean, when am I not thinking of you? I just can't. Stop. Thinking. About. You! And it's driving me insane! Our fights are even more charged with unresolved sexual tension now-"
"Unresolved sexual what?" She looked at him blushing.
"Tension," he answered, and then continued his rant. "And sometimes I just want to kiss and I don't know if it's because you look sexy or because I want to shut you up. Can you see how fucked up that is? And then I find myself thinking how when I look into your eyes, it's like watching the night sky, or the sunrise, or something even more corny that I will not share with you! And you know how you want the perfect husband with the perfect house and the perfect kids? I think I can give you that. Not in the way that you imagined, but in the way that you need. The way that I know you need and want deep down," he ended his rant and took a deep breath, to reach his conclusion. "Admit it princess, I'm your prince⦠even though I'm not charming."
"Der-ek!" Her eyes were watery and her voice was failing but she could still scream his name. "You think I don't know that? You think I don't know that I want you? But this relationship is doomed even before it starts. Aside from the fact that we are step-siblings, which let's be honest, is a little bit of problemā¦" he scoffed at her words. "What? You think it isn't?" she asked, raising an eyebrow at him.
"I don't think, I know that it isn't. Our parents love us no matter what. Little Simon just has to get used to the idea. And our sibs? They just want us to be together already and stop with the pointless fighting!" he raised his arms in exasperation.
"Even if that is true, you're a player Derek Venturi. You live for hockey and chasing girls. You are not a 'one woman' kind of man. You'll leave me when the going gets tough, for the blond bimbo next door," she reasoned.
"I won't. I won't give up on us, even if the skies get rough. I'm here to stay and try to make you happy. Apart from all this you're my best friend you know? You know I'm capable of loving. And I'm choosing to love you. The question is: do you love me too?"
"Yes."
And then lips met lips and the world stopped revolving and every heart stopped beating, because Casey and Derek were kissing, and suddenly, everything was right in the world.
At least in their world.
AN: So... How random was that?
