"Hey! Wait up!" I call to the girl. She looks so familiar. And that song she was humming was so... recognizable. Like I've heard it somewhere.
Finally, I reach her. I tap her on the shoulder. She turns around. My eyes take in the sight of her cropped white hair and a light brown hat. I've seen that hat somewhere before too...
"How can I help you?" the girl's voice familiarily shows no emotion.
"Uh.. What song were you humming?" I ask awkwardly.
"Oh, that was a song I just knew ever since I was young.. Even I don't know how it came. My mother told me it must've been something from my past life."
My head hurts suddenly. Past life. My mind flashes back to another world: the Afterlife. Is this the world I was in before I came here? I still remember the people: Yuri, Hinata, Yui, Kanade... Kanade! That's why this girl looks so familiar! She looks like Kanade!
"Are you.. Kanade?" I inquire the white-haired, golden-eyed girl.
"My name is Kanita," she replies.
"No! You're Kanade," I say, stubborn, "remember me?! I'm Yuzuru! Yuzuru Otonashi!"
"Yu-yuzuru?" She looks confused. Then she holds her head.
"Are you alright?" I ask, worried.
"Yeah, I just had some memories," replies Kanita, "I remember a world where the dead go to. And I had been there too. In my previous life."
"Can you remember anything else?" I respond, anxious. If this was Kanade, we would be able to stay together forever.
"O-otonashi," she says, pointing at me. I nod.
"Kanade Tachibana." She points at herself.
"Yes."
"You were the one who gave me m-my heart to live," says Kanade, "I was afraid to expose my feelings. Or else I would disappear." I notice tears bubbling in her eyes.
"Kanade," I reply, "that's the past. We can start over! We can stay together now, on Earth, in the real human world. None of us will vanish. We can stay together, unafraid to say our true emotions."
Kanade nods. She looks up at me, tears still welling in her shining eyes. "I love you, Yuzuru. I love you!"
"I love you too, Kanade," I say.
"We can stay together now," agrees Kanade, "we won't disappear!"
Seeing Kanade's tears, I rush to her, opening my arms and embracing her.
"I've missed you so much, Kanade," I whisper.
How I long for us to stay like this forever! I won't ever let go. I will stay with Kanade eternally.
