Chaos. That is what it could be named. Bodies fell and disintegrated left and right as black clashed with white. The screams of war and battle cries were unleashed without an end. Time was an unknown factor in this war, the war for the Forgiven One. The Forgiven One was said to be the a single unique race of Grey Angels who belonged to the isolated established White and Black Angel-clans of the sky. They are one who gives life to the clan who bears them along with the power to control the human realm, since they are the only one who can communicate in favor with the father Ra. Those without this fortune will slowly perish for their hope from within is lost. One could say that the Forgiven one is less of a blessing and more of a curse. However...
"Yugi!" screamed a blond born of the white winged angels as he pulled the former mentioned away from the rain of erratic meteors. The blond pushed his beaten wings forward dragging the other's body higher into the sky for cover behind the mist of grey clouds. Honey-brown eyes turned to glare at the seemingly younger angel who bore no guilt on their fair-skinned facial features. "You know you can't be out here! Not only is it dangerous, but want they want is you," sneered the blond.
Yugi pouted as he was being scolded and gave his own glare back. "Joey! I wanted to see what was happening! It's no fun sitting around in a temple with a bunch of old angels who see me more a prize then a living being!" As he said this his glossy grey wings flared in resentment and frustration. "I might as well have just gone to the other side and avoided this war, at least over there they play with me," sighed the tri-colored haired boy as he patted the cloud fluff.
Joey couldn't help give a small laugh as he watched Yugi bristle at the thought of being sent back to the temple, but then frowned at his last words. "Look Yug'," started Joey, catching the other's attention, "I know ya may not care 'bout who wins or loses this war, but you coming out here in'd middle of it all could've put ya in serious danger! I wan'ta come back to see a safe Yug' not a fried one!" The blond laughed and patted Yugi's hair as the other's face scrunched up at the thought of being toasted. Joey quickly stood up on the cloud layer and peaked around, hearing faint cries of the battle in the distance. The damage could be seen the the aftermath of the war site, black clouds and shiny specks of dust littered the sky. If he didn't know any better the shiny dust layer would seem pretty, but knowing that those were all that remained of fallen comrades and foes a heavy sorrow settled in his mind. "The coast is clear let's get ya back to the temple," with a huff the blond pulled the pouting angel from behind the cloud and took off in the opposite direction of the noise.
A dark figure going unnoticed as it trailed behind them.
By the time the two were halfway back to the temple Yugi had broken free of Joey's death like grip and with a promise to play later the former stayed relatively close to the latter as he flew up, in zigzags, and all around; smiling the entire time. Yugi halted his fun and flew besides the white-winged angel as he spoke, "Don't you just love flying Joey! I forgot how good it felt to have the air travel beneath your wings after spending seventeen years in a human body!" Joey rolled his eyes and bonked the other on the head, "Yes, Yug'. I swear you get memory lose when you fly because this is almost the millionth time you've asked that question in four years!" The grey angel just laughed while scratching his ear as a slight blush came over his cheeks.
Joey couldn't help but smile at the sight.
Suddenly a dash of black covered his vision and sent him spiraling into a black cloud. "Get off of me" Joey cried as he saw crimson eyes glare at his being. Joey attempted to slam the other into the ground, but the other was faster, pulling on the Joey's white wings, a weak point, and kicking him in the small of his back; forcing Joey to kissed the black cloud beneath him . "ARGH," Joey yelled, "You coward going for the wings! Who do you think you are!"
The black winged man smirked as his tri-colored hair blew in the slight wind, the leather on his body leaving nothing to imagination as it hugged his pale skin. "The one and only Yami! Lord the Dark Clan!" The teen lord making his voice loud and clear, knowing the other was struggling to recover. Yami turned his back to the blond, "Now if you excuse me I have a play date with my little Yugi." Not bothering to look back at the other Yami greeted Yugi whose eyes were beaming at the words "play date".
"It's a pleasure to see you again Yugi," whispered Yami as he took the other's hand and gave it a kiss, "shall we be on our way?" Yugi simply tilted his head at the gesture and nodded, happy and conflicted as he glanced at Joey who was looking at him with watery eyes; knowing that Yugi cannot and will not make a decision to choose one or the other.
The destiny of remaining the neutral grey-winged angel.
As Yami guided Yugi over the Sea of Divergence the smaller glanced down at the human world below. The grey angel began to remember how many times he was reborn into that world, the surroundings different every time yet the memories of the old fated days of returning to the sky always hanging over his head. He was not meant to live a human life so why? Why be reborn in a place you could never be a part of only to be taken to a place where you were fated to live a short life for the gain of those whose lives are the gambling chip.
Such an existence is truly tiring, if it could even be called such.
Yami, usually calm and collected, began to worry as the usually bouncing and uncaring Yugi remained silent instead of jabbing witful comments on how "evil" he was being for stealing such a "precious thing" away. Instead of commenting on it he just closed his eyes and continued to moved forward until…
WAMM!
"AHHH!" Yami screamed as he felt another body ram into his at a high speed. He didn't have time to react before Yugi, who snapped out of his daydream, was ripped from his grip and was they kicked in the face; sending him flying back to put some distance between him and his attacker. He instantly recognized the blond who was now fussing over Yugi as the one he took down before and gritted his teeth for not having finished the job before.
"Yug' are ya okay buddy? You don't look to hot," mothered Joey who furrowed his eyebrows when all he got from Yugi was a nod and amethyst eyes hiding behind blond bangs. Joey did a once over before turning back to his opponent and glaring, "You ain't gettin' away this time bud! I'm takin' him back and ya ain't going to stop meh!"
Yami scoffed at the statement and smirked at the fool and said, "Let's see you try," before making the first move.
Yami aimed with a punch at the the blond's stomach only to have it blocked before being hit on the head with an elbow and kneed in the stomach. Yami cringed before releasing a blast of fire, startling Joey and singing his white wings to light crisp, the blond once again screaming for the sake of his wings. Not letting this pain go to waste Joey grabbed a hold of Yami's black wings and began to twist them causing the other to also shout in excruciating pain.
Meanwhile, Yugi watched in horror, this was the first time in all his reincarnations that he witnessed the such cruelty between those he had grown personal attachments too. He shook his head, no, no, NO! He didn't want this, he isn't allowed to find under the rules of Ra, he must stay neutral, but why, why, WHY! Why must he have to be witness to the harm the power of which he bears causes, he would have rather remain blissfully ignorant…
Ignorant...that was the key
If his next reincarnation were not to know of this realm, to know of the cruel fate of eternal struggle he has and could possibly forever face in the future then maybe his next self would never venture into this realm, to never continue the cycle…
...to never feel the wind beneath his wings…
With tears in his eyes and a heavy heart Yugi retracted his wings, catching the attention of the fighting pair. He smiled a watery smile as he fell back head first ignoring the screams of the two who shared the same feeling of dismay as the no longer grey winged angel passed the barrier of the human surface.
"There is blood on my hands of those whose blood I did not intend to spill yet simply my presence in this realm brings nothing but chaos,
CHAOS
Be this as it may my last attempt at life if Ra will so grant me this, may the calm reach those of this realm as I the Forgiven One relinquish my wings…"
The sea seemed to shine with glitter that day…
