Hinata stood at the gates of Konoha, gazing into the town. Just a few more yards, and she was home. But was it home? She laughed bitterly to herself.
Why? Why did you go?
"Hinata-chan! Glad to see you're back! Where's…" Silence. The crowd became hushed at her pained expression.
Why did you leave me?
"Thank you for reporting this, Hinata. I'm pleased to know you're mission was successful. But… now, for… other arrangements…" the Hokage trailed off. Hinata looked at her hands.
It's so painful. I know there re others around me, and I know they care for me, but I feel so… alone.
"Hinata-chan! It's Kiba! Shino's here, too! Will you join us for luch?" a voice called from outside their -- her apartment. Hinata sighed, standing up from her place on the couch. Might as well. She'd promised him she wouldn't cut herself off, but how could she not? She had… she had promised him.. Promised him.
"Listen to me…" Blood poured from the wound in his chest. The red liquid leaked from a gash in his side as well.
"No, shh… you're going to be okay. Just don't talk. You'll be okay--" He silenced her by putting his soft fingertips to her mouth.
"Listen to me. I'm going to die. We both know it."
"But you can't d-" But he cut her off.
"Shh… listen. Hear 'em?"
"H-here what?" She was crying now.
"The birds." Sure enough, she could here the birds in the trees, singing a soft, sad song as if they knew her love was dying. She laughed sadly.
"What is it with you and birds?" she chuckled, tears dancing down her pale cheeks. He smiled.
"I am one. You said I was. A raven, if I'm still thinking straight. And you're--"
"And I'm a beautiful moonflower. You've told me many times," she interrupted, brushing a sweaty strand of hair off of his forehead.
"And I want you to keep being a beautiful moonflower."
"What do you--"
"You're beautiful, Hina. Don't lock yourself away. You're not a ragged weed, and I don't want you to become one."
"But--" she started, but he put a finger to his own lips, a motion for her to quiet, as he was probably too weak to lift his hand to her mouth.
"I'm to going to tell you to move on. I know it's nearly impossible. But I want you to try. And I want you to stand tall for me, alright? Just for me. I want you to bloom, and show you're beauty to others. It's too precious to keep to yourself."
"Sas--"
"Hina."
"Y-yes?"
"Don't forget, I'm always here. I love you. Never forget that."
"Sasuke…"
"Shh…" A hand lifted to her face, caressing her cheek. So he did have the strength to move? "Right now, I'm just a bird with a broken wing. But I'm going to fly again. And I'll always wtch over my flower." He slowly lifted himself up(with much trouble) and placed a kiss on her lips. "I love you Hinata."
She walked down the street, following her old teammates.
"Hey, Hinata-chan." She looked up from the ground. "Look. Kinda reminds you of someone, huh?" Kiba pointed to a small garden off to the right. The patch of flowers sat beside a small pond, a small, broken, gray, wooden fence surrounding it. In the garden, surrounded by newly-bloomed cosmos and sakura petals that had fallen from a nearby sakura tree, stood a lone moonflower, it's petals strangely opened in the daylight hours. Perched upon the fence, a raven sat, black wings glistening as it observed the trio. Hinata smiled. She smiled a smile she always reserved for Sasuke.
