It was late one night at the Wright Anything Agency. Apollo and Phoenix were out tying up some loose ends for a couple of cases while Athena and Trucy hung out at the office.
"It's kinda quiet," said Athena.
"Yeah. Hey, how about a magic trick?!"
"Eh, maybe later."
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.
"I got it," cried Trucy as she headed for the door. When she opened it, a former client was there. "Hi! Can I help you?"
"Yes, I wanted to give Mr. Wright a thank you gift for helping me save my vineyard. I brought my finest vintage. Is he here?"
"No, he's out right now but I'll be sure to give it to him when he returns."
"Oh thank you very much. Tell him it's from Vino Terra."
"I will! Good night!"
"Who was that," Athena asked as Trucy came back to the couch.
"Mr. Vino Terra. He gave us some wine to enjoy. Let's open it up and have some!"
"Are-are you nuts?! We're not old enough to drink!"
"Oh just a little won't hurt. And we're gonna be here right? We're not gonna go anywhere. Besides, this will be gone when Apollo and my dad get there hands on it before we would ever get to try it."
"Well," said Athena unsure. "I guess one drink won't hurt."
"That's the spirit," said Trucy as she opened the bottle and began to pour it into two glasses that she made appear. They each took a sip, letting the sweet liquid flow down their throats.
"Oh wow this is good," cried Trucy.
"Yeah, it is," Athena cried back.
"I kinda want some more," said Trucy as she began pouring another glass.
"We shouldn't you know."
"But it's so good! Have one more!"
Athena reluctantly agreed and had one more glass. Which soon turned to another, then another and then another with their faces getting redder with each new glass. Later, with the bottle almost empty, the girls were feeling really strange. Trucy was seeing double and swayed back and forth.
"Heeeeeey! I diiiiidn't know you had a twin," said Trucy.
Athena looked at Trucy with a goofy smile on her face.
"Really? Where is she," she giggled.
"Is there any more," Athena asked.
"I'll go geeeeeet it," said Trucy as she struggled to get up. "Ugh! I don't feel so good."
"I don't blame you," said a familiar male voice.
The girls turned to see Phoenix and Apollo standing behind them.
"Hi daaaaaaady! Why are there two you," Trucy grinned.
"What happened here," asked Apollo.
"Mr. Vina brought us this," said Athena holding up the bottle.
Phoenix grabbed the bottle away from them.
"This bottle's almost empty!"
"What?! Are you kidding me," shouted Apollo.
"We just wanted some," said Trucy as she walked toward her dad but just ended up falling toward him.
"Ok, I am putting you to bed now," said Phoenix as he picked up his daughter and took her to her bedroom.
"Am I in trouble," she whimpered.
"We'll talk about that later. Just brace yourself for that nasty headache you'll get tomorrow."
Once they were gone, Apollo began to put away the glasses and bottle.
"I can't believe you two almost finished that bottle. You do realize that you could have gotten the boss into serious trouble!"
"I'm sorry," said Athena as she began to cry.
Apollo was starting to get uncomfortable. He knew Athena's emotions were always running high but now that she had alcohol in her system, those levels were probably off the charts. He quickly rushed over to get her to calm down.
"No, it's ok! Please stop crying!"
"You must hate me now!"
"No I don't hate you! Why would you think that?"
"You don't hate me," Athena sniffed.
"No, I don't," Apollo smiled. "Hey, why don't I take you home."
Apollo stood up and pulled Athena up who was still unsteady. She took one step and then tripped, knocking herself and Apollo down on the ground. Apollo then realized he was on top of Athena.
"Ah, sorry! Are you alright?!"
As Apollo continued to babble, Athena moved her hand towards Apollo's tie and then pulled it. Next thing Apollo knew, his lips were touching hers. Athena had already closed her eyes but Apollo was too stunned.
"What?! What is happening?! Why am I doing this?! I shouldn't be doing this! But, I...kinda...like it. They're soft and warm. This isn't so bad."
Apollo then succumbed to the moment and closed his eyes and the gap between them. A feeling began to stir inside them; they weren't sure whether or not it's been there before but they felt it now. Apollo broke the kiss and just stared at Athena. For the longest time, he only saw her as his colleague and a little childish at times. But, probably for the first time ever, he saw her as a woman. A very beautiful and amazing woman.
"Thena," he whispered.
"Polly," she whispered back.
"Ahem!"
The two snapped back into reality. Apollo looked up to see his boss with his arms crossed and not looking too happy.
"Uh, boss! I, uh," Apollo stammered.
"Don't say a word please."
Apollo sprang buck up to his feet but Athena stayed put.
"I was going to take her home but," Apollo began. But Phoenix held his hand up which made Apollo shut up.
"She'll stay here tonight. You, get home."
"You sure?"
"That would probably be the best thing."
"Ok, night boss."
When Apollo stepped outside, he thought back to that moment with Athena. He could still feel her lips and he wanted more. He never felt this way about anyone so why her? Meanwhile, inside the office; Phoenix helped Athena get on the couch who passed out immediately. As she laid there, Phoenix heard her call Apollo's name. Phoenix let out a sigh.
"This could be a problem."
