Author's Notes: It's been a while since I've written a Rayla, but I hope that this one is okay. I know it's not long, but the muses wanted simple. It was inspired by Josh Groban's SO SHE DANCES, which is like my fave song.
He stood still in the door as he watched her, dancing to a song he never heard. He was entranced by her soft movements and the way she was fluid. It was hard to believe that this was the same surgeon who was uptight and planned her life for herself that bordered on too safe. He knew that there had been some changes when he left, but he hadn't expected this.
She moved across the floor with elegant lines, silhouetted by the light of the city below. She was in her own world as she waltzed across the floor. She was blissfully unaware of her audience as she glided across the naked room.
Ray leaned against the door and softly smiled to himself. She was beautiful. In scrubs. Out of scrubs. Clothed. Naked. Dancing or performing life saving surgery. She was beautiful. As she danced, he was more than aware of her beauty.
When she was positive no one was watching her, she would let go of her inhibitions and be who she really wanted to be. She swirled and twirled around the room, oblivious to Ray standing in the door, watching her.
He wanted to join her, but she was so enticing dancing by herself that he fought the urge until he could take it no more. When he absolutely had to dance with her, he put his bag down and, in mid-twirl, captured her in his arms.
If she was surprised, she didn't show it. Instead, she relaxed in his arms, allowing him to lead her. As she drew in closer to him, she asked how long he had been watching her. "Long enough." and that answer satisfied her.
They danced in the moonlight, letting the dance tell the other of the deep passion for the other until he could take it no more. As he slowly spun her, pulling her close to him, he pressed his lips close to her ear. "Marry me and dance with me this way every night."
She leaned her head close to him. "Of course."
And so she danced with him, luring him deeper into her spell, which he was all too happy to comply.
