Title: Against the Odds
Author: Little Lunar Wolf
Rating: K+
Pairing: Sort of K/G, but not really.
Disclaimer: NCIS, in no way belongs to me. I'm just having some fun with them. No infringement is intended.
Summary: Sometimes you just need to read in between the lines.
Author's Note: I decided to try something thought provoking, and this is the result.
I see the looks they give them. Paranoid? Maybe. Accurate? Definitely.
In the office they glance at them, and I see the smiles appear on their faces, as 'the intended' playfully argue. They think they know, but really they don't. They assume, because it would seem obvious.
They see, but don't truly look.
If they did, they would see the other side of the coin. Or maybe they still wouldn't. Maybe we are just good at keeping our personal business, personal.
There's an office pool circulating. 'When will they become a couple?' Just about everyone has entered it, hoping to make a quick something.
They are prejudiced by expectation, and subsequently blinded. This makes them prone to overlook the other possibilities.
They want a fairytale, but don't realise that sometimes, things aren't always so clean cut. Not so black and white. Not so obvious.
So I sit at my computer and indulge in smiling with the hoards of people at two of my agents. I smile because I know what they don't. I smile because I know who she'll be going home with tonight.
END
AN2: There you go, just something I was pondering about if Gibbs and Kate were in a secretive relationship. What the air of the office would be like and what Gibbs would be thinking etc. If somehow, someone is offended with this I want to apologise in advance, and state it was not my intention to do so.
Anyway, although I say this at the end of all my fics, reviews would be very nice. I'm grateful for everyone who will take the time to leave a few words.
