A practice kiss.
(It's just a practice kiss; it doesn't mean anything, just a harmless practice kiss between friends.)
Raven walked into the main room and headed towards the kitchen to make her daily tea. She looked around the room a tad surprised to find it almost empty. She spotted Starfire sitting on the couch and decided to join her in simple luxury.
Raven sipped her drink and opened up her book before glancing over at the alien who sat cross-legged next to a bowl of cherries, reading a teen magazine. Raven would normally ignore the girl and her strange ways, but couldn't help but wonder why she was eating the cherry stem and not the cherry?
"You do know you're supposed to eat the cherry, not the stem, Star?" She informed her.
Starfire looked up from her magazine and smiled pulling out a knotted cherry stem from her mouth. "The young adult magazine says that if you can tie the stem of cherries in a knot with your tongue then you are a good kisser." Raven cocked an eyebrow in confusion as Starfire put the knotted stem down by many others and smiled. "Apparently I am good at the kissing," She said gleefully and turned back to Raven, handing her a fresh stem. "Friend, you must test your abilities!" She encouraged happily.
Raven shook her head. "Star, this is a pointless game made for girls who have nothing better to do then to prove that there good at something."
The alien shrugged and picked up her lot of knotted stems. "I am going to show Robin what I can do, and maybe we will test out the theory," She hinted.
Raven rolled her eyes and turned back to her book as her friend left. She tried to keep her eyes on the words but found that they tended to wander to the bowl of cherries that sat in front of her. "Argh!" She huffed before slamming her book down. "I can't believe I'm going to do this."
She grabbed a cherry stem and put it in her mouth. She moved it back and forth and around and around. Up and down, side by side. She had moved it around for longer then she had expected.
'Why isn't it knotting?'
Apparently this was harder then she had originally thought. Her brow furrowed as she continued to maneuver the stem in her mouth. She was so focused on it that she neglected to hear the common doors open and was startled when she heard a friendly, "What's up Rae," from Beast Boy behind the couch. With a swift jump he hopped over the sofa and sat next to her, and she quickly grabbed her book in response. She pretended to read as she still fumbled with the stem in her mouth. "What-cha doin?" He asked playfully as he looked around. His eyes couldn't help but land on the bowl of cherries. "You-know, I never pictured you the type of girl to question her kissing capability, Rae." He smirked
Her eyes widened, "I'm not!…" She tried to explain but it sounded silly with a stem in her mouth. He cocked a brow and smiled as she furrowed her expression in irritation and pulled the un-knotted cherry stem out of her mouth. "This shouldn't be so hard!" She huffed.
He smiled. "Maybe you're just a bad kisser." He teased.
"I am not a bad kisser!" She shot back and he gave her a teasingly whatever look. "This is stupid and doesn't determine anything," She defended as the changeling grabbed a stem, "Even if it was true only someone with a strong tongue like Starfire could do it, her and her alien tongue muscles." She rambled turning to the boy next to her who held out a knotted stem on his tongue. She stared at it in shock. "How did you?"
He leaned back with a smirk, "I guess I'm just a better kisser then you." He said fiddling with the knotted stem.
"I'm not a bad kisser." She insisted angrily.
He turned to her and smiled, "prove it."
"How?" She asked skeptically.
His lips curved as he leaned forward towards her face, "Kiss me."
"What?!" She asked quickly pulling away from him.
"You want to prove you're a good kisser, well then kiss me. I'm apparently good at it." He stated fondling with his knotted stem.
She rolled her eyes, "I'm not going to kiss you."
"Come on Rae; just consider it a friendly kiss, a practice kiss."
"No."
He casually leaned back, "Fine, don't." He said calmly.
She stared at him silently for awhile, debating this in her head, until she finely blurted, "Fine." He turned to her and smiled. "Just a practice kiss, to prove to you I'm a good kisser," She clarified.
He smirked and sat up before leaning close to her. She started to pull back in uncertainty at his approaching face, until he put a hand on the back of her neck stopping her. She was nervous but did find her eyes fluttering shut with his as their lips slowly met. It was nice, sweet even, but lasted longer than what she originally planned and she couldn't completely blame that all on him, she didn't pull away. The cherry challenge was right, he was good, but was she?
Her thought broke when she felt him do something different and she pulled away with a gasp. "What are you doing?!" She gasped, holding her mouth with shock.
"What, no tongue?" He asked innocently. She glared at him. "Come on Rae, do you really want to stop?" He smirked leaning in. She wanted to stand her ground, and maybe slap his cocky grin off his smug face but found herself giving in and leaning in until they met again.
It started out like before, but with a little more ease. And then he did it again, and she let him break the barrier of lips, and it made the kiss a lot better, and… deeper. She found herself urging for more and so she reached out to him, propping a hand on his leg as he moved a hand to her waist. She was quite content, and enjoyed this supposedly friendly interaction. Until his hand started to wander…
"Okay, that's enough!" She stated shoving him back. She was still brainwashing herself to believe this was a friendly innocent kiss.
"Sorry, I guess I took it a little too far." He said sheepishly scratching the back of his head.
"Yeah, like feeling me up has anything to do with the cherry stem test."
"Ha, Rae, none of that had to do with the cherry test."
"What!" She questioned.
"Yeah you proved you're a good kisser but the real trick in all this is tying the stem before you put it in your mouth."
"You, you!..." She was livid.
"-Stole a kiss, got some tongue, and copped a feel? Yeah I guess I did." He said it so innocently that she just wanted to strangle him!
"I can't believe you!" She yelled getting up off the sofa.
"Really? Cause this seems like something you should expect from me," He said with a smirk, "Frankly you should have known better…"
"THAT'S IT!" She yelled and pounced him, her hands automatically going to his neck, ready to strangle. But the change in weight shift on the couch forced it to fall back, taking the two teammates with it. But it didn't faze them as Raven continued to attack him, now on the floor.
And from the doorway Cyborg stared in shock as he watched the crazy interaction. He rolled his eyes as his only thought turned to, "This is what the cherry stem test does to people…"
