Fate or coincidence?

Don't we all wonder how the universe works? If things are meant to be or if everything is just random. If a chance meeting determines who we end up with or if nothing is set in stone and we just keep making it up as we go along.

People believe in different things and in this story, there are two sides. The girl who believes in possibilities and the guy who thinks there is only one way. When these two meet, who's to say who is right?

Keep in mind, that this is indeed a love story. However, a few hearts are always broken along the way…

Jason's POV

Day 488

I looked at our hands. Her hand still had the wedding ring on. I didn't know whether to be happy or mad about that. All I knew for sure was that she was here. With me.

"Are you sure we did the right thing?" Reyna asked me.

I looked into her eyes to see if I could find the answer.

Day 1

"This is all wrong!"

I crumpled up my drawing and threw it at the wall. Why did Annabeth talk me into this? I'm not good enough to draw the building that would be partnered with hers!

I ruffled my blond hair and lay my elbows on the table.

"Chill bro," Leo said walking over and handing me a beer. "It's just a building."

"Just a building?" I responded. "This is the first time I've ever been given a major duty at the firm! And from the head honcho no less! Annabeth will kill me if I don't impress her!"

Leo chuckles.

"You laughed at 'major duty' didn't you?"

"Maybe," he replied.

"I've gotta get out of here," I say as I get up from my desk and put my windbreaker on.

"Oh come on, it was just one immature instance! I promise I can change!" Leo said now on his knees, fake begging for forgiveness.

"I'm not here because of that. I need to go to the library and find an architecture book or something. I need to find some inspiration and I don't think I'll find it in here," I say looking around at our apartment. It's not small, has two bedrooms, a living room, and a kitchen. Nothing out of the ordinary. But the piles of car parts and random tools spread throughout get kind of distracting.

"Oh come on," he eggs on. "You can create a building in the shape of a wrench!" he said holding one up. "Fashionable and functional."

"Where did you hear that from?" I asked. Doesn't sound like something Leo would say.

"A friend of mine said it."

"Well whatever, I've gotta get to the library before it closes," I say shutting the door.

I go down the elevator and walk down the streets of Manhattan on a sunny autumn afternoon. The library is only a few blocks away inside the mall if that makes any sense. Which it doesn't to me. But as a not-so-successful architect such as myself who only afford so much gas and auto insurance I can't afford to be picky.

Architecture is what I was brought up doing. My dad is Jupiter, or Zeus as some call him. He lives over in Olympus. Yes, Olympus. The city of the rich and powerful, home to twelve of the richest shareholders in the world, all powerful in their own fields of business. My dad is all about air travel but something about architecture just drew me in. It always seemed…grounded. It had no immediate alterations like air travel does. Just do the job with what you got.

My new boss, Annabeth Chase, seems to be testing me or something because she just assigned me with this new building design. It's nothing big, but big enough that if I mess up, my job might be in jeopardy.

I finally make it into the library and immediately look around. I need to find something to inspire me.

I pull out Architecture for Dummies. This can be my back up plan. I keep looking. Architecture's Secrets, The Art of Architecture, Ways Around Buildings.

These all sound good. But I don't know if they'll inspire me. I find an open table and see a book laying on it.

Is this fate? I pick up the book and memories start rushing towards me.

"That copy is kind of taken."

I turn to see a pair of eyes. I just can't tell the color of those eyes. Her hair is below her shoulders and she's dressed in a loose gray shirt and a black cardigan with blue denim jeans.

She's beautiful.

She looks into my eyes and I can tell she's waiting for me to say something…

Piper's POV

Day 487

"So what are you gonna do?" Lacy asks me as we walk around the mall.

"Nothing," I say. What would a normal girl in these kinds of situations?

"Really? Well what if he-"

"I will do nothing!" I say/yell. Cue curious stares from strangers.

"Well why not?" Lacy says/yells back.

"Because!"

"Because why!"

"Let's stop yelling," I say laughing with Lacy at ourselves. "I don't know Lacy. I don't think I feel the same way as he does."

"Well you should tell him that. I don't think he'll truly be happy until he knows for sure," Lacy said. Sometimes I think when the braces came off, so did all this wisdom. "Just remember the day you met Jason."

I touch the necklace Jason gave me.

Day 1

"I hate jewelry."

I hold a necklace up. "What's the point of this stuff?" A sales woman looks at me funny, "Sorry, I didn't mean anything by that." The woman just "hmpfs" and walks away.

"Nice one Pipes," Annabeth says to me laughing.

"How was I supposed to know people take fashion so seriously?" I say browsing at these useless items.

"You're a fashion designer!"

"Is that relevant? You design buildings, that doesn't mean you would wear one," I say now sick of the store and dragging Annabeth away from it.

"Actually, I have a little fashion idea for you-"

"You're as bad as Leo."

"Who's Leo?"

"My best friend. He works at a car manufacturing factory. He suggested making a suit of wrenches. He said it would be made for people like him."

"Crazy?"

"No!" I said laughing at her joke. "I just responded, 'sounds fashionable and functional. But I don't think the company will go for it.'"

"Well my idea is perfect!" Annabeth explained. "I'm thinking a shirt that I can draw all my designs on."

"It's called a plain white shirt, sometimes Annabeth I wonder why Percy calls you wise girl," I say.

"Because he loves me," Annabeth explains.

"What's that like?" I ask window shopping at a sports store for a new hat.

"It's…indescribable."

At that point, I grabbed her shoulders and shook her. "I want my old friend Annabeth back! I don't like this girly version!"

She just laughed. "I'm sorry Piper but I'm just so happy right now. It's mine and Percy's eight year anniversary."

I stopped shaking her. "Eight years?"

"Since sixteen years old," she added.

"That's fantastic!"

"It is-Hm?" Annabeth's phone rings and she answers it. She just makes a few "yes's" and "uh-huh" and she's back to me. "I'm sorry Piper I have to go. My firm is having an emergency meeting regarding this new project I placed on my employee."

"It's okay, I was just going to the library."

"Must you mock me?" she says disappointed. She gave me a hug and she was off.

I looked around the library until I found the book one of my friends told me was her favorite. I placed it on an empty table and hoped no one would take it. I figure that it's a universal way of saying the table's taken. At least I hope so.

I continue to look around for any more books to read but as I look around I see some tall blond guy in a black windbreaker and blue jeans look at my book.

I walk over there and say, "That copy is kind of taken."

He turns around and I see these two deep blue eyes. I've been told I have beautiful eyes but I don't know if they compare to his.

I want to say something but I can't. Hopefully he says something first…

And that my dear readers, is chapter one.

If you hadn't noticed the story is set up like 500 Days of Summer. Only I'm going to make multiple changes to that story, even though I love it. This isn't the movie, it's me changing it so you don't know what happens next.

Thanks for reading and please review, reviews really do help me a lot!
