The scenery of the forest quickly moved past me in a blur.
'Pant… 7 Pant… 6 Pant… 5'
my breathing remained steady and I tried my best to make as little noise as I possibly could. As I continued to run through the forest I found a small clearing near the centre. I knew he was approaching and he was much, much faster than I was, after all he had been a vampire for a lot longer than I had, if fact he was one of the original vampires.
Knowing that I would have little to no hope left I stood at the far end of the clearing with the little pride and self-respect that I had left for myself. It wouldn't be long before he would find me I knew that by the time I said 0 he would be here "3… 2… 1…"
"Let's play a little game shall we?" asked an irritated vampire with dirty blonde hair that suited his 'dirty' tricks. His blue eyes locked with mine his eyes contrasted with his pearl white skin and it felt as though he was mentally killing me with the daggers he threw. I froze in place waiting for my punishment. Even with his delicate face I knew his real motives by now.
I have seen this scene play our a million times before but I still had no idea what this guy had in store for me, He was full of surprises. What I did know was that it couldn't be good.
"Why don't we play Tag?" he suggested "You use to love that game right? But we have grown now. So let's add a little twist to it. No Escape. In the end one of us will die, and seeing as I am an original vampire and you're just an ordinary vampire…"
"I don't have time for these games Klaus" I interrupted rudely, realising my mistake I took a step back not realising the wall that was directly behind me. Had he planned for this the whole time? I could never tell what he was thinking.
"Oh no, I think you're wrong." He explained to me in a calm, crueltone "We have all the time in the world. But let's make this more interesting we shall aim for a new record. I'll be it and I have 10 seconds to try and catch you. Let's begin shall we? 10… 9… 8…" He paused for a moment "You might want to start running now. There will be no second chances this time."
I knew that this guy wasn't playing around when he had paused I had a brief moment to think and bolted out of the door as fast as I could running towards the forest "Pant… 7 Pant… 6 pant… 5" my voice was shaking as I counted down the time to my inevitable death. I wasn't exactly sure why I had decided to run, there was the possibility of surviving if I had stayed. Playing this game was exactly what he wanted.
*Present Time*
A tall figure stepped out slowly from the darkness in the forest "0" he finished in a dark voice that sent chills up my spine "Time's up…"
'CRACK'
Darkness surrounded me as he spun my neck and I felt a soft thud as I fell onto the floor of the forest. Death wasn't as painful as I thought it would be. It was so much better than the life I had to lead with this man, it was peaceful and gave me a sense of security.
That was unless this really wasn't my death. This man knew exactly what he wanted and just how to get it. No one could ever tell what he was thinking.
