Japan is known as a country of contrasts. American fast food restaurants sit comfortably next to ancient Shinto shrines and many traditional Japanese families enjoy fried chicken weekly while discussing the children's school lessons on the ancient yet highly revered samurai. Across the Tokyo Rainbow Bridge sits the small artificial island of Odaiba. Originally built for the defense of Tokyo in the mid 1800's it has since evolved into a major residential and commercial area. Many around the world knew about this Island because of the famous "monster" incident over a year ago. A more select few know that the island is home to a small band of young school children called the Digi-Destined who had become the saviors of the real and digital world.

Their leader a 13-year-old named Tai Kamiya was walking home from school on Odaiba's busy streets. "School sure did suck today," Tai thought as he dodged a busy Businessman on his cell phone running to his next meeting. All day he had listened to his teachers who had droned on and on about the recent terrorist attacks in the United States. After over six hours of talking Tai was still no closer to understanding what the hell any of it meant for his country. " If it was so obvious as his teachers said it was why didn't he get it?" Tai broached his complaints to his two walking compainions Sora and Matt. Matt simply replied, " What are you retarded Tai? I mean I knew you were dumb but my god" "Matt that's so mean" Sora said trying in vain to keep a straight face. "Fuck you to Matt" Tai said with a chuckle and a slight punch to his friends arm. "Well here's my turn guys see ya tomorrow" Tai waved to his friends and started to ascend the many steps to his family's apartment. Watching Matt and Sora walk together always made Tai feel a Pang of jealousy every day. " Ya and not to mention there dating" Tai quickly pushed that thought out of his head. Shortly after returning from the digital world Tai had quickly developed feelings for Sora. However by the time he worked up the nerve to tell her it was to late, Matt had already beaten him to it. As he turned the doorknob to his apartment door Tai still remembered that phone call just over a year ago that broke his heart into a million pieces.
