"Open Your Eyes"

All this feels strange and untrue
And I won't waste a minute without you
My bones ache, my skin feels cold
And I'm getting so tired and so old

I feel as if I'm in a dream, it's not right. Watching you slip away makes me feel older than I should. Why are you so sick? Who made you this sick? Why must you leave me now?

The anger swells in my guts
And I won't feel these slices and cuts
I want so much to open your eyes
'Cause I need you to look into mine

Angry tears spill from my eyes, hot against my cold skin. I grab your hand, just to feel your warmth one last time.

Tell me that you'll open your eyes

I see them flicker, and hope fills my heart, but you don't awaken, not even for me.

Get up, get out, get away from these liars
'Cause they don't get your soul or your fire
Take my hand, knot your fingers through mine
And we'll walk from this dark room for the last time

I'm begging you to wake up. We could, should, would leave. If you would just wake up. I squeeze your hand, kiss your forehead lightly and whisper your name like a prayer, but to no avail.

Every minute from this minute now
We can do what we like anywhere
I want so much to open your eyes
'Cause I need you to look into mine

'Selena, please, we'll do whatever we wish, we'll raise our son together back home. Just please, wake up.'

You sigh softly and another tear falls.

Tell me that you'll open your eyes

I don't know how long I stay, murmuring your name over and over until the candles melt and the sun rises once more.

All this feels strange and untrue

Please open your eyes.

Please
And I won't waste a minute without you

Please…
