He would be lying if he said that killing the old man hadn't rattled him.
The spy was what he could have been, plus twenty years or so. Would have been, in a different time and place. Should have been, if there were any justice for the innumerable unspeakable acts he had committed.
Mr. Reese supposed it was a good thing that he had gotten out when he did.
Lest he end up like the "retired" spy.
