Hermione returned to the dungeons as she forgot a book in the Potions class. As she entered she could see Draco Malfoy reading something in an Advanced Potions Book from professor Snape's desk. She approached silently in order to know what was Malfoy interested in, as she knew he was far from being an avid learner of Potions. He didn't notice that behind him the curious Gryffindor 'know-all' was standing.
"Veritaserum?!", exlaimed Hermione while Draco startled being surprised to see her there, "What are you planning to do, Malfoy?! The use of this Potion is forbidden!", said Hermione looking at the boy with agitation.
"It's, it's not what you think!", replied Draco closing quickly the book, "What are you talking about?!".
"Don't lie Draco, we both know that you aren't interested in learning extra lessons, moreover this is professor's Advanced Potions Book, students must not consult it!", replied Hermione, "Tell me now or I'll call professor Snape!".
"Ok, I'll tell, but don't call the professor, please!", said Draco.
"I'm listening.", replied Hermione.
"I just wanted to know whether you…love me…", said Draco blushing and looking down.
Hermione was shocked about the unexpected answer of him. She blushed too, then smiled and looked at Draco saying:"Well, you don't need Veritaserum to know this…you could simply ask me…moreover you need one lunar phase to brew it and I think you want the answer by now…".
Draco was looking embarassed at her as he expected anger, dissatisfaction coming from the girl against him. He thought that the simple idea about him to intend to make her drink Veritaserum will kill her, but she reacted surprisingly calm.
"You know, I'm not so courageous as you…", said Draco.
"But you're enough cunning!", replied Hermione smiling.
"Well, maybe not so cunning…so, will you now tell me…your answer?", asked the boy looking into Hermione's eyes.
Hermione looked down and said:"Maybe not so courageous…". The girl took the book she came for and ran away from the class. She didn't answer him, but he understood what the response had to be.
Draco was looking at the door through which Hermione came out with a cute smile.
"10 points to Slytherin for ingenuity, Mr. Malfoy!", said professor Snape closing the door of his cabinet, "You found her weakness and discovered the truth without any potion, excellent!", continued he sketching a smile.
"What are you talking about professor? I really wanted to brew Veritaserum.", replied Draco.
Professor Snape slapped him with dissapointment and said:"Get out…and try not to lose her…".
