(I know I said I wouldn't put up anything new until my older stories were finished…..but I couldn't help myself……My turn to play!!)
…."I was gonna break up with you anyway."
She smiled, "No you weren't."
He didn't answer, but leaned forward, scrubbing his hands over his head. He heard her move, and felt her at his side. He chanced a look at her, and saw that she hadn't taken her eyes off him. Slowly, one hand reached out and covered one of hers.
"Give me a chance," he asked her quietly.
Rachel smiled at him sadly and brushed her free hand over his cheek.
"Let me prove myself," he said, eyes on hers.
The raw sincerity in his voice had Rachel's heart stuttering in her chest. She turned her hand over underneath his and linked their fingers before nodding her head. He leaned in and watched as her eyes fluttered shut, but stopped before their lips met.
"Can I kiss you?"
His breath was a warm caress over her face and she opened her heavy eyes. Instead of answering him, Rachel leaned forward and kissed him softly.
"You don't have to ask Noah," she breathed out as they pulled apart.
He watched her for a minute, eyes reaching to the depths of her soul; and she smiled at him. Not her thousand watt smile, but a private smile just between them. Puck tugged on her hand and she stood, sliding onto his lap as he wrapped his arms around her waist. They watched the football team practice in silence, and Rachel felt something like contentment as she unconsciously stroked a hand up and down Puck's back and tucked her head in the space where his shoulder and neck met. He always smelled so good, she thought, taking a deep breath.
The feel of her body was slowly killing him, but he would die happy. And every time her hand softly traced his spine, he had to suppress a shiver. Finally, he looked down at her and pressed a kiss to her forehead.
"Come on," he said, helping her off his lap and standing to take her hand, "Let's get out of here."
With one last look at the field, Puck and Rachel headed towards the parking lot.
