He smiled up at her, eyes bright as the skies during the day.

His brown hair was tucked back, and he was just as oblivious as his mother often seemed; he loved the world, adored his mother, sometimes bickered with his father.

He was their little son, a major part of their world; he was named Touru more so after his mother.

Touru acted almost like her though his eyes were the perfect image of his father's; he was playful and bounced around on his little feet, always looking as if the world was before him and ready to take him on in its loving arms.

Their daughter, Kiara, was as stubborn as her father; she loved to fight, thrilled over every last challenge, and sometimes acted as if she didn't adore the loving way her family treated her though every time her eyes lit up like her mother's did, silently thrilling over being loved.

She raced ahead; as an older sister, she watched over Touru, looking at him as if he were her treasured younger brother, but stubbornly denying it with that sharp tongue of hers and easy flowing sarcasm.

Kiara was as loving as one might expect though when her walls came down, and she was just near her family when her rarer more affectionate, more open moods came into play.

She held her younger brother as if he were as small as a baby and cuddled closer to her mother as if she were that young; she adored her mother in the quiet way that one realizes they love, even adore, the person who showers on gentle and soft care to them.

Kiara admired her father in his strength, in the way he refused to yield or fall apart when times got tough; he wasn't always smiling and didn't always know what to say, but Kiara loved that about him, loved the fact that he worked hard for them every day, and tried to be like him.

She now leaned in, quietly in awe of her mother's pregnant belly, softly tracing circles on it with her fingers and hands and asking so very softly how far along she was.

Tohru smiled down at her and whispered back in the quiet way that she somehow knew to speak in whenever Kiara went soft, "Just a couple months along." Her smile then was gentle yet radiant, and Kiara smiled back softly.

She listened to Touru's quiet excitement as he asked questions like whether he was getting a little brother or sister, and their mother told them that they'd find out in a few weeks when they all asked the doctor.

Kiara giggled, and her youth shown as she cuddled closer and stared into her mother's eyes for a second before she tugged her father down to join them, smiling a little wider when her mother laughed, and relaxed with the family that would only manage to be a family of four for a little longer as it had already began to grow and change.

She smiled softly as she leaned against her mother, softly stilling, and just cuddling closer as she thought about what a new baby would mean, the hours spent with him or her or the lovely ways a baby may coo or whatever the child would be like when he or she grew older like she was or like Touru was.

Kiara smiled and cuddled close for the warmth and security of being together like that as she began to let her sleep catch up with her as tomorrow would be another new day, an excited one as they prepared for their newest family member's first time coming home and being able to see it and see them.
