Prequel: Halloween Night

James Potter was on his way back from visiting his fellow Marauders, Padfoot and Moony for a Halloween get together. This had the first time he had left the house since the Potters went under the Fidelius Charm. Sirius talked James into letting Peter be their Secret Keeper. James for the most part trusted Peter, but Lily believed that he was the one working for Voldomort so it took a little convincing on his part, but she eventually agreed.

James was rushing home because he felt something wasn't right, especially since Peter didn't show up at their little Halloween party. When James reached his house he saw it all in rubble. He started searching desperately for any sign that Lily or Hailey may have lived. When James found his wife's body he broke down in sobs. Only to be interrupted by a baby crying. He searched desperately for where the sound was coming from and found Hailey crying her beautiful emerald eyes out.

She looked the same as usual except know Hailey had a lightening bolt scar on her forehead. That wasn't the only odd thing. Hailey was lying next to the dead body of Voldomort. James put two and two together and he knew that Hailey had survived the killing curse and killed Voldomort. Of course he knew that He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named would return somehow, but for know he was gone.

When Peter was captured about a month later he was given the Dementors Kiss and left to rot in Azkaban. James grew more and more depressed over the years. Every time he saw his daughter he was reminded of Lily. So instead of acting like the fatherly type James just ignored his daughter. He only acted like himself when he was around Padfoot or Moony. Of course Hailey's godfather, Sirius, spoiled her to death along with Remus. Both of them made up for Hailey's father ignoring her.

As Hailey's 11th birthday drew closer she got more and more excited. Hailey looked forward to going to Hogwarts. She was hoping it would become her home, since she never felt at home with James. Finally Hailey's 11th birthday arrived.
