Stefan didn't understand why Klaus would put his faith on him to protect his daughter. Klaus hated Stefan, even thought they once called each other best friends. That didn't matter thought, he was going to protect her as if she was his own. Klaus told him that nobody could know she was alive, not even Caroline since Stefan told her everything. That meant he had to leave his old life behind to protect Hope. Stefan was going to do whatever necessary to protect her, even if that meant leaving Caroline, he loved her so much, but this was something he had to do.
He already had a bag packed in his car, he went to New Orleans to get hope after Klaus called. He didn't bother to say goodbye to anyone it was easier that way. His drive to New Orleans was long it took him about 14 hours to get there. He was told by Klaus to meet just 10 miles outside of the city, because there were too many people watching his every move. When Stefan arrived, he saw Klaus already there waiting by his car. Stefan pulled up and got out of the car.
"Hello Stefan." Klaus said leaning against his black car.
"Klaus, why did you call me?" Stefan asked already knowing the answer to the question but wanted to make sure.
"As you know my child was born. But New Orleans is not safe for her, I have a lot of enemies that want to hurt her. I cannot keep her safe, she'll never be safe if she is with me or my family. I know we have had our differences in the past but now I'm asking you to take my daughter and protect her as if she was yours. There is nobody else I would trust with my daughter's life." Klaus said looking at Stefan. Klaus knew that it would be hard for Stefan to let go of the past, but he needed him to trust him.
"Why me, Klaus?" Stefan said looking at him.
"Because I know that no matter what happened in the past, I know you will take care of my little girl" Klaus looked at Stefan hope in his eyes.
"Fine I'll do it. What do I need to do?" Stefan asked. He knew that doing this would be ripping him apart from the people he cared about. But he couldn't let an innocent child get hurt even if she was the daughter of a monster. Klaus was glad that Stefan decided to do it, if he asked one of his family members his aunt would expect it but asking someone that didn't have a family connection to him would be safe, they'd be harder to track down.
"I need you to get her far away from here as possible. Nobody can know where you are. My older sister Freya is doing a cloaking spell on both you and Hope. Nobody will ever know where you are, not until it's safe. Thank you, Stefan, for doing this I know a lot of things happened, but I know she'd be safe with you." Klaus said knowing the man in front of him would protect his daughter. Klaus went back to his car and grabbed Hope. He took her to Stefan and placed her in his arms. He looked at the baby in his arms and was in awe, he knew he couldn't get to attached to her because she belonged with her parents. Klaus said goodbye to both Stefan and Hope and went back home.
Stefan settled the baby inside his car making sure her seatbelt was buckled right and left. He didn't know where he was going but he knew he couldn't go back to Mystic Falls. They drove for about 6 hours and Stefan decided to stop at a motel to spend the night. He got a room and settled himself and Hope in. Stefan had no idea how he was going to raise a baby, he was in over his head, he needed help and there was only one person she could trust. He took out his phone and dialed her phone number. After a few rings she picked up.
"Hey, can you come Atlanta? I need to tell you something. I'll send you the address" Stefan said through the phone.
"Yea I'll be there in a couple of hours." The girl said back hanging up the phone.
Stefan decided to stay up during the night just to make sure there was no problems. He looked at Hope and all he wanted to do was protect her and not let anyone hurt her. Stefan vowed to Klaus he would protect his daughter, nobody would hurt her. It was about 8:00 AM and he suddenly heard a knock on the hotel door. He opened it and saw the beautiful blonde standing at the door.
"Hey, I'm glad you're here Caroline." Stefan said.
"I'm glad you called. You left without saying goodbye. What did you need to tell me?" Caroline asked.
"Come in, I'll show you." Stefan said. Caroline entered the hotel room and saw a beautiful baby girl on a car seat.
"Oh, my god. Whose baby is that?" Caroline asked confused.
"It's Klaus's daughter, Hope. He wanted me to protect her since his aunt wants to take her. I have to disappear with her and I wanted to know if you were willing to go with me. We could have a life together, protecting this child." Stefan said hopeful.
"Okay I'll do it. Where were you thinking we should go?" Caroline said
"I was thinking Seattle, it's nice there." Stefan said excited to be with Caroline even if it was on the run.
"Seattle it is." Caroline said taking the baby and getting on the road.
What will happen next? Will Caroline and Stefan adjust to their new life?
