Chibi – Small
ai shiteru – I love you
Kami – God/Goddess/Godlike being
Sama – an honorific roughly equivalent to 'Lord or Lady'
Koishii – beloved
Baka – idiot, if someone says *name* no baka, that's "so and so's an idiot or so and so, you're an idiot"
Chan – an affectionate honorific.
Hai – Yes
Onegai – please
Gomen, gomen nasai – sorry, I'm very sorry
Minna-san – everyone
Dono – an older honorific, roughly equivalent to 'sir or dame'.
Ji-chan – an affectionate way of saying grandfather
Haa – yeah
Daga – but or however
dai ichi ouji – the first prince, the number one prince
Shimatta – an expletetive (it was pointed out to me that this is said when the sayer has made a mistake, as opposed to a general use expletitive)
Yurusenai – I can't forgive you
Tsuka – hilt of katana
Saya – scabbard
Masaka – unbelievable! It can't be! etc.
Tenchigumi – the Tenchi group
Naruhodo – I see, I understand now
Ikuzo – let's go, frequently a saying before jumping into the fight or a rally cry
Bushi – samurai, warrior, soldier
Tenchi-ken – the sword Tenchi, the master key
Nihonto – a true Japanese sword
Anata wa dare? – a rude way of asking 'who are you'
Tenchigumi de gozaru – have fun translating de gozaru. It's an ending frequently favored by Kenshin Himura of rurouni kenshin but it's an older Japanese ending to a sentence. In my story, the phrase translates to: "we're the Tenchi group"
Hitokiri – manslayer, literally
Sengoku – the Period of Warring States. A conflict from the 1400's to 1603 where all of Japan was mired in one messy collection of cival war and strife.
Kisama – you bastard
Yare yare – mild exclamation of exasperation, 'good lord' or 'sheesh'
Okaasama – a very respectful way of saying mother
Kawaii – how cute, or cute, pretty, adorable etc
Oujo-sama/chan – respectful and affectionate way of saying princess
Sake – rice wine
San – 'mr. or mrs.' A standard honorific.
