Embrace

(A/N) Kaiora ahead! Takes place right after KH 2. At least, I'd like to think so. But that's why they call it fan fiction, huh?

Strawberries and cream.

That's what she smelled like.

Sweet, sweet strawberries.

Sweet just like her.

Sora held her in his arms, pulling her snug against him. He nuzzled his nose in her ruby red hair. She felt so soft. He'd longed for her for so long. Her face, her smile, her laughter . . . her touch. He didn't want to let her go.

"You're back," she whispered into his ear.

He pulled away slightly and cupped her delicate face in his rough, battle-worn hands, as he looked straight into her glowing violet eyes.

"I'm back," he confirmed.

She smiled softly through her tears and embraced him once again, her hands tangled around his neck, his woven around her waist.

He rested his chin atop her head. He could feel her tears running down his neck.

All of a sudden, she reached out a hand and traced his jaw line with the tip of her finger. Sora felt his eyes flutter closed as he lost himself in her gentle caress. Her tender touch felt like small butterfly kisses to him.

Sora ran his hand through her beautiful tresses, stroking each strand. "Your hair is longer," he noted quietly.

She giggled subtly and looked up at him. "Yours is lighter," she countered.

He chuckled, letting go of the rich scarlet lochs.

Then he took an unexpectedly serious turn, and wiped her tearstained face with his thumbs.

"Don't cry," he muttered, his cerulean gaze burning intense with earnestness.

She stopped drawing imaginary tattoos on his face and laughed, shaking her head.

"They're tears of joy, Sora," she vindicated.

"I don't care," he said persistently. "You look more beautiful when you smile."

And she did just that.

She smiled.

Tear-free.

"Better?"

Sora beamed. "Better."

She lowered her eyes, suddenly self-conscious, and began to fiddle with the crown pendant chain around his neck.

He still held her in a loose bear hug, staring at her and drinking in her entire visage, simply enjoying how perfect she fit into his arms.

" . . . Sora?"

He snapped out of trance at the sound of her melodious voice.

"Yeah, Kai?"

Kairi's lips quirked at the familiar nickname she hadn't heard in so long. She tugged his shackle styled necklace, bringing his face closer to hers.

They touched foreheads, his brown spikes tickling her brow and temple – their noses barely a centimeter apart.

Sora's grasp around Kairi's torso tightened as his breath hitched at their close proximity. He shut his eyes for a second time, relishing in her intoxicated smell and feel.

"What is it, Kairi?" he asked again, surprised he could even string his words together.

The girl in his enfold sighed peacefully.

"Don't ever leave again," she said.

Sora instantly opened his eyes.

They locked sights. Blue clashed with purple.

She looked at him intently.

"I won't," he promised. "I won't."

(A/N) Just a little something that's been muddling around in my head and I had to get out. Complete and total fluff, but what are you going to do? I adore this pairing. Let me know what you think!
