Prologue:

It was killing me softly, it was. Hard to hear, hard to move...

Hard to even try. Hard to even give trying a thought.

And I knew just about one thing right now:

I was going to die.

Chapter One: Seeing Beyond It All

When you think you're just about dead, you're not. When you think you're going to be okay, you die. Life sucks, I know, but not all the time. Because I was just about to die...and I didn't.

And I regret being saved.

Oh, I regret being saved, baby. I want to die. Just about now, just about anytime.

What would kill me? Nothing, I knew. I would die. Slowly I'd fade and kill myself, mentally.

Physically was out of the question. Totally.

But looking at myself in the mirror, and never looking away was beyond weird.

Freaky, even.

But I was staring at myself in the mirror across the room.

I was gorgeous.

I still regretted it.

But when the most gorgeous man walked in the room, with the most gorgeous family, was when I finally decided that I liked being this way. So...breathlessly beautiful. I fit in, like I never did before. I was--

"Hello, my name is Carlisle Cullen." the blond guy said. I nodded, like in a trance.

Then I said, stupidly, "But what am I?"

He smiled. A blonde beautiful super-model-looking girl snickered.

A pretty brunette with long wavy hair said, "A--"

Carlisle said, "Stop, Bella. Don't spring it on her. It will confuse the girl."

The girl. So I was the girl.

Again.

I sighed, "Just tell me."

"Your as hideous as we all are." Blondie snickered.

Bella frowned.

Carlisle gave her a disapproving look.

I was shocked. "But you're beautiful!"

The cackled, good naturally.

I frowned, "Then...what am I?"

There was a guy, large as he was, I didn't care. He was giving me the evil eye and laughing to himself the whole time, and for some strange reason, he annoyed me.

So much.

I lunged at him, without even a thought, and smacked him to the ground.

The blonde screamed, "EMMETT!" and Emmett pushed me off.

I went flying in the air, and I smacked into the wall.

It didn't hurt.

Emmett got up, and I would've sworn he would be bleeding a little.

Come on!

But he was glaring so ferociously--

So--

"Bella." a voice said.

The brunette beauty turned around. "Yeah?"
"Stay away from her."

She moaned, "But Eeeeeedward!"

"No. Away." said Edward. His long, lean body leaned against the door frame. "Here."

She went to him, all right. He was glaring at me like I was some beast.

I had just noticed when I saw him, that I could see so much better. Everything looked to..clear, like I could look through it.

My voice was surprisingly cool. It's high pitched rhythm coulda beat any singer in the world.

But the thing that got me was the sight. I concentrated on Bella hard. Her eyes widened.

Edward snarled, pulling Bella behind him.

I concentrated on Edward. Hard. Harder.

Then, I saw through him. To Bella. Then Edward blinked. He looked down. Then he stepped back, "Oh--"

Carlisle saw it. "What--"

"Impossi--"

"She can--"

"No she--"

"Thats impossib--"

"It can't be--"

their voices jumped back and forth. Then Carlisle said, "We--"

And the blonde (Whom I figured out was Rosalie after Emmett said it) said: "Have."

And Edward said, "To--"

Rose said "kill"

and Carlisle finished it. "Her."

"NO!" Bella screamed. Then she lunged.

Little did I know that this would not be an easy fight.
