First Thawing
Freezing and cold, the dead of winter,
I reluctantly reach towards your flame,
The warmth draws my frozen self closer;
The irresistible heat is to blame.
The tall billowing flame licks my finger
And causes my icy heart to come alive,
The heat melts away precautions I harbour,
Inside I step, fire and ice collide.
You have thawed me with your consuming heat;
Now I am a mere puddle on the ground,
I no longer want to harden and freeze
Or hide my present nature from the crowd.
You have melted and overpowered me,
Fire melts ice, ice is but a memory.
