Why?
That was the only thing going through Shepard's head. Why hadn't he listened? Why couldn't he see that what she was doing was for the best? She'd trusted him. She'd thought he'd understand. Thought he'd trust her. Was it childish of her to think that nothing had changed?
„But I still know where my loyalties lies." he'd said. Well they obviously didn't lie with her. Had they ever?

Their relationship had never gotten to the point where they'd actually 'done the deed' as Ash would have put it. The night before Ilos he'd come to see her but she just couldn't bring herself to take it further. Now she wasn't sure if she regretted it or was thankful for it.

Garrus had been with her on Horizon along with Mordin. The two of them had been a blessing when she'd been about to break in the shuttle back, redirecting her dark thoughts to brighter places. She'd never thought that Mordin's nonstop sometimes-hard-to-understand talking or Garrus's slightly awkward comments would help her as much as they did.

But now she was alone in her quarters, trying to look over the dossiers the Illusive man had just given her: The Assassin and the Justicar. Neither seemed interesting enough to hold her focus.

Her long red hair fell to cover her face, her hand moving to take the holo she had on her table. It flickered to life, Kaiden's face looking back at her. She stared at it for a few moments before she put it back, laying it face down on the table.
