A/N: I was feeling very down this evening as a really good friend of mine is leaving for New Zealand. This sort of just poured out of me. I know it's been done before, and it isn't beta-ed but I kind of had to write it. Dedicated to a fantabulous friend, Alison. Comments appreciated.

"You can't leave," Rose cried. She raised her head timidly from her position on the console room floor all over again. It was starting over. Tears ran silently down her cheeks. Her large brown eyes tried to catch them but it was a frivolous battle. They kept on rolling and her desperation grew and grew. She met his eyes not once wavering her stare.

"You can't leave, Doctor," Rose repeated brushing her fringe back from her tear stained face. She stood slowly, never breaking eye contact.

"You know I have to," was all the Doctor uttered, a look of pain upon his features.

Rose stepped slowly closing the gap between them. She wanted to throw herself at him in anguish but she had tried that unsuccessfully before. She was beginning to feel more and more aware of the time that was passing, the time without him, or with whom ever the other person claimed to be. It wasn't right. She had to keep trying. She would try for the rest of her days.

She edged towards him, repeating the steps she knew better than her own name. His distinctly blue eyes held her gaze intently.

"I need you, you mean everything to me," Rose spoke softly, "you're my Doctor, I-," Rose's voice quivered. She reached out to cup his face. She tenderly brushed his lips with the tips of her trembling fingers. He was leaning into her embrace and yet she knew he was beginning to fade. "I love you," she whispered, as a single tear escaped and trickled down her cheek. Her Doctor left her once again that night and Rose woke once more from a restless sleep.
