... -BOOOOOOOOOOOM- Another enormous explosion.
"INUYASHA!"-
The group's cry was silenced as the mysterious cloaked figure lunged at the now-human hanyou. Inuyasha slid to one side; only dodging the razor-sharp claws enough to the point where they slashed his ribcage.
"Damn! When is the sun going to rise?!" Miroku shouted in frustration, unable to use his Kazaana because of all the samiyousho that were buzzing around, annoyingly.
"I could really use some help, right about now!" screamed Inuyasha, clearly in a lot of pain. "Well, you're gonna have to wait for a while if you want my help. I can't possibly use my Kazaana with all of the samiyousho around!" shouted Miroku, with a look on his face as if to say 'Duh!'. Then Sango jumped in, "But there's no reason why I can't help you! Inuyasha, go with Kagome and Shippou. Miroku...you stay and help in any way you can. We'll try to hold him off as long as we can while you three get as far away from here as possible. Now, GO!"
"Don't get killed..." said Inuyasha as Kagome helped him stumble away. "Right..." replied Sango. "Now get moving!"
Kagome and Inuyasha hurried back to the camp as fast as they could. Once there, Kagome bandaged Inuyasha's bloody ribcage as quickly and best as she could. "Thanks..." he said once she had finished. "Don't mention it... now let's keep moving!" she replied in a gentle but stern tone.
Once they had reached the other side of the forest, they stopped to rest. "We should be fine here until morning," said Inuyasha with pain radiating through his voice. "Sure... let's get some rest," Kagome replied, sympathetically. "If only the sun would come up!" said Shippou, obviously worried. "Don't worry about me... I'll be fine. You two just get some sleep," said Inuyasha, the pain in his voice was apparent once again.
As Kagome and Shippou slept, Inuyasha took this time to think. What would happen, he wondered, if he weren't around to protect Kagome anymore? He knew that the others would do their best to take care of her, but... would that be enough? He couldn't bear the thought of what might happen... so he tried to think about something else. "I hope that Sango and Miroku are okay," he muttered to himself.
Little did Inuyasha know that Sango and Miroku were far from being okay.
