Katniss Mellarks final words
And Katniss lay in the bed. Her grey hair now matching her grey eyes. Peeta held her hand.
"Peeta, I love you"
"I know honey", Peeta said, tears running down his worn face.
"No, I really love you. I love you with all my soul", her voice was croaking.
"I love you so much Katniss, please don't leave me", Peeta choked out. "I can't survive without you".
Katniss Mellark looked into her husband of 60 years and realised that she couldn't either. She thought she could survive without Peeta, without his children. She was wrong.
"You will be okay. Willow will dry your tears and Rye will pat your back. They are me and you combined and I don't think I could have lived my life any other way".
Katniss reached up and stroked her husbands cheek to wipe away his tears. Her final action. And then layed her hand to finally rest. Her eyes softly closed. Katniss Mellark had died, and her wrinkles finally started to fade...
