Because I was very disappointed with the lack of slash fics. And because, seriously, Embry and Quil are adorable separate, so why not together?

--

Embry and Quil were the best of friends.

They were closer to one another than either of them were to Jacob. This wouldn't have gone unnoticed if Jacob hadn't been so busy mooning over Bella all the time; but moon he did, so he didn't have time to notice this.

They were closer to each other than they were to the rest of the pack. Even in human form, they could practically read each other's thoughts and habitually finished the other's sentences, something that had begun to irritate even Sam.

They were together all the time; they were hardly separated, and even their names seemed to be permanently joined. It was always Embry and Quil, sometimes even just EmbryandQuil, no spaces between names, never one without the other.

So it seemed natural for them to be a little closer than normal best friends. Of course they'd spend each night at either one house or the other; of course they'd get their guardians confused. They were practically joined at the hip.

But it seemed like just a little too much when Jacob caught them making out at the edge of the reservation. He'd been surprised, surely, even though a little part of him whispered that it had been long since in coming.

They had blushed, stuttered, and jumped apart like, well, two teenagers who'd been caught necking by their other best friend. Jacob had laughed and assured them it was fine, that he didn't mind; and besides, everyone had been sort of expecting it anyway.

So when they'd appeared hand in hand at the next gathering, smiling nervously, everyone just assumed that they were the best of friends.

And the best of everything else.

Short and sweet and to the point.

Now I'm going to go write about Jacob and Embry--don't forget to drop a review!
