KITTY'S POV:
Memories. They can take you back a long way. As a little girl, I always had that potential to help my mother around the house. Cooking, cleaning, washing and drying were pretty much the only skills I had. Cooking was my top skill. My father and I once cooked Christmas dinner together for the family. Well, he was actually teaching me how to do it while I put all the ingredients in. It was the first time I ever helped out with a giant meal. I thought I would mess up, but I didn't. Everyone loved it. I was happy. So was my father. To be honest, I didn't know it would be the last Christmas I would ever celebrate with my father. My father said he had to go on a long journey, and it would take a while for him to return home. I haven't seen him since.
The night he left, I knew I had to start thinking about what the future holds. As any girl would, I always had a feeling that I was a princess and my handsome prince would come to me and we both shall live happily ever after. Not only did I dress up like one, I drew a picture about it. I drew features of how I would look like when I got older. It showed that I had really short brown hair and green eyes. I have green eyes, but my hair was longer, at least several inches past my shoulders. I drew a brown dress on me. Red is really the color that suits me, not brown. My drawing also shows that I was wearing emerald jewelry. I hate emeralds. I'm more of a person that would wear rubies. The way I look in the drawing was really the opposite of how I look in real life.
Enough about me for now. What about my prince? What does he look like? I didn't really know. I just decided to make something up. His hair was brown and spikey. His armour was red and orange. His sword was filled with power. His eyes were red orange, the color of fire. To me, he actually looked kind of cute. What was his name? Back then, I couldn't think of one. So I just put down, "My handsome prince..." blank. I put it in my drawer and made a promise to myself that one day I would write his name down. One day. That drawing is still in my dresser in my new apartment to this day.
As a little girl, I always had a dream that I would move to the city and become something great. Unfortunately, I worked as an assistant at a blacksmith shop and only got paid five dollars an hour. I only had enough to afford an apartment. When I first moved to the city, I was hired to be Mr. Cyrus Borg`s secretary. It wasn't minimum wage payment. I was earning enough. I was trying to save up to buy a car, but I also had to worry about paying bills and the monthly rent. So far, I only have fifty dollars saved, and I've only been working in the city for two months. As my grandfather once told me, patience was the answer.
Another morning to wake up to. Another day to figure out which business clothes to wear. Another day to walk thirty minutes to work. Another day to walk through the doors of city hall.
While taking the elevator to the top floor, I accidentally bumped into Mr. Borg`s personal assistant, Richard Maid. Richard was pretty much an idiot. Smart in front of Mr. Borg, but an idiot in front of me. Oh, if he starts off a conversation with me, I plan to stop the elevator on whatever floor and just walk up the rest of the way in heels. If Mr. Borg ask, I'll just tell him I needed the exercise.
Unfortunately, I was the one to start off the conversation. Stupid me. "Hello, Richard."
"Hello, Kitty," Richard greeted in a very casual way. That's weird. He usually talks to me as if he's trying to flirt with me.
Sorry if I didn't introduce myself before. My full name is Katina Rebecca Armegon. Everyone calls me Kitty, though. Mostly because I act like a cat, which is basically true. Anyway, back to this weird conversation between me and Richard.
"How have you been, lately?" I asked.
"Good," Richard said, "I've been good."
"So, what's going on?"
"What do you mean? I'm just trying to get ready for work."
"Your not talking to me in your usual flirty way."
"Yeah, about that... The elevator door opened. "Oh, here's my floor. Goodbye, Kitty. Have a good day."
"Same to you?"
Richard left out the elevator as the door closed once again. That's really weird. Why would Richard not act in his usual flirty way? Did Mr. Borg finally catch him? I hope he did. There were times when Richard would be kind, but he was really annoying as well. Not the kind of person I would call my handsome prince. Sure he was handsome, but not the way I would think of him.
The elevator opened to the top floor, where I saw Mr. Borg sitting at his desk looking up at me with that usual smile that he always had.
"Good morning, Kitty," Mr. Borg greeted me, "I'm glad you decide to take the elevator instead of the stairs."
"Good morning, Mr. Borg," I greeted.
"Now, Kitty, I told you that it would be better to call me Cyrus."
"Calling you Mr. Borg is more respectful. As my mother once told me, it's best to be respectful then to not be."
"Oh, well. Never mind. Before we go over today's schedule, I was planning to ask if you could do me a favor."
"Anything, Mr. Borg."
"My wife is taking the children out of town this weekend to visit her parents, and I was planning to attend an anniversary wedding party as a guest for a friend of mine. I won't be able to attend the ceremony as I have a nine o`clock meeting. The problem is I have no one to take me."
"Say no more, Mr. Borg. I'd be happy to take you."
"Well, thank you. Your the fourth person I've ask. The other three said they had plans Saturday night. All of them said they had dates."
"Well..., I don't really plan anything on Saturday nights."
"I suppose you don't have a vehicle."
"Oh,right. I'm sorry. I'm still trying to save up."
"Say no more. Richard said that he had a spare car that he's been trying to sell. The trunk can only fit something as big as a wheelchair and there are only three seats. It would be perfect for you since you don't live with anyone else."
Richard is selling a car. Do I really wanna buy anything from him? "What's the cost?"
"You'll have to ask Richard. All he told me was that he's been trying to sell it for weeks. He said he's been trying to sell it for five hundred dollars, but if you plan to buy it, he said that he would let you think of a cost."
I didn't know what to say. Pretty much, I didn't know what to do. The last thing I wanted to do was buy something from Richard. Especially a car. What if it didn't work right? That was the question. Unfortunately, I didn't really have a choice. I've been needing a car for a while. This was my only chance.
"I'll talk to him about it, Mr. Borg."
"Excellent. Why don't we go over the schedule and I'll give you time to talk to him about it then."
"Sure thing, Mr. Borg."
After the morning schedule, which was a mile long as always, I went downstairs to talk to Richard. I have a bad feeling about this. I hope buying this car was worth it. I hope going to this wedding party was worth it. I hope the future had something in store.
Basically, there were three reason why I moved to the city. Reason number one was to become successful. I've always wanted to do something awesome. Maybe write a book or become an actress. Maybe it might never happen, but it's still good to have those thoughts. Reason number two is to start a new life. After my father left for his journey, things at home weren't the same. My mother had to start working while I worked around the house. When I was ready to leave the nest, I thought moving to the city would bring new perspectives in life. I'm sure the future might bring that to life. Reason number three was to find my handsome prince. Not just any normal guy you see on the streets. Someone sweet. Someone kind. Someone caring. Lots of things. That's what I want to find. I plan to find one day. Right now, I'm ready for the future.
AWESOME, HUH?
I HOPE YOU LIKE IT. I KNOW HOW MUCH YOU WANTED THE SEQUEL TO COME OUT.
NOW I HAVE A NEW CHARACTER. HER NAME IS KITTY.
HOW WILL THIS TURN OUT?
(FOR THE RECORD, SKYLOR IS NOT IN THIS. THIS IS BASED ON WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF THEY DIDN'T MEET CHEN. SORRY FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT WERE EXPECTING THAT. THIS IS ACTUALLY MY VERSION OF NINJAGO.)
HAPPY READING.
