Disputed Galaxy
Author's Note
Welcome to my first Starfighter: Disputed Galaxy fanfiction! I hope that you can enjoy it, and that I can do a good job.
This will be a chaptered fic, not a one-shot. This might drag on for a while, just like most of my stories.
As usual, reviews and comments are appreciated. Compliments are welcomed joyously, and flames will only be accepted if there is a sensible reason to write one.
I also made a special division of chapters for this fanfic. Segments of the storyline are called chapters, but they are subdivided into subchapters, which are the chapters of the story text.
Chapter 1: For the Aegis
Subchapter 1: The Calm Before the Storm
The Aegis, the huge but sleek flagship of the Human Alliance and the craft of the Admiral of the Fleet, Admiral Wilson, is traveling to the main outpost sector, S-34-21 at a considerable pace. It is not directly escorted, but a Rear Guard of ships led by a Commodore only known by the name of 82.1 follows the Aegis some distance away.
A message from the nearest main station crackled on the communication system. "This is Echo 3, Echo 3 to Aegis, requesting a status report."
Admiral Wilson turned on the microphone and replied, "This is the Aegis. We are some distance away, 298,334 units from station proper, on sector S-29-17. We have sporadic encounters with alien ships, but they were easily destroyed. We are moving at a cruising speed, at the prescribed route." A short pause, then, "We shall commence a long-range radar scan."
After he ended his reply, he ordered the Utility Pilot to commence a long-range radar scan. The Utility Pilot then pressed a button. Outside, on top of the ship, a steel sphere rose from the body on a platform, transmitting high-energy radar waves, which will reflect on contact with a body. The nature of the reflected waves might give information of any objects in the proximity of the wave. In seconds, the results showed up: clumps of asteroids some sectors away.
Admiral Wilson then turned on the microphone. "This is the Aegis. We have found no hostiles within the locality. We shall be heading by the same route."
A reply from Echo 3 followed. "This is Echo 3, we copy. Another status report will be requested in 15 minutes. Have a safe journey. Over and out." With a click, the transmission ended.
The Admiral then ordered resuming of their cruising. The ship then cruised on its way.
In the meanwhile, some sectors away..
"The target has reached the area," A Marauder pilot reported.
"Our holographic disguises will not last. Move forward, and crush the human scum! For our empire!" The leader of the ambush, in an Enforcer, ordered.
And immediately, six squads, with 10 ships each squad, sped to assault the unknowing Aegis..
