Deep Within the Heart
Darkness cradles deep within every heart.
It tries to take over our souls and tear our bodies apart.
Once it takes over, our anger always grows,
and rage and hate are all anyone ever shows.
Next is the craziness,
which always leads into a big mess,
and then the misery and sorrow,
until the Darkness begins to grow.
When the dark powers come,
which is usually quick for some,
the Darkness overtakes you,
until you're full of sadness and rue.
"Come, join me," the Darkness always seems to say,
and then you're never able to keep it at bay.
When you finally join and fill with shame,
you never ever dare to speak your name.
When the Darkness takes your soul,
and your heart is completely full,
you are let go and lost,
but that, my dear friend, is what it costs.
But don't worry, don't fret, there is something within,
that helps you be trustworthy, safe, and never commit a sin.
That's right, deep inside, there is a shimmer of bright light,
that, one day, will guide you and lead you to what is truly right.
Always believe in the light,
and the Darkness will forever stay out of your sight.
Light is what keeps us from falling apart,
because that is what's inside, deep within the heart.
