When He Realized
When Viktor Nikiforov first saw Yuri Katsuki, he saw a man in his early twenties slouching while his coach consoled him.
He shouldn't be slouching like that; it's going to affect his performance when he skates.
Of course that was the first thought he had. Why, one would ask? Only because posture was the number one principle ingrained in him from his parents and his coach.
His second thought was, Who is he?
Well, that question was answered soon enough.
The first person asked to dance was Yuri Plisetsky.
Well, challenged was more like it.
Not one to back down from anything, Yuri immediately accepted. It was entertaining, to say the least, to see two men who were so used to being on the ice use dance moves that wouldn't even be possible on the slick surface.
Next was his turn. After Yuri Plisetsky was gulping down water (at least, that was what he hoped the fifteen year old was drinking), the black haired man pulled Viktor into the middle of the room. At first, it was man versus man.
Then, it evolved into more.
The man in front of him (which he deducted was Yuri, if the man embarrassedly trying to get him to stop doing things he would regret later, such as challenging other people to dance-offs) grabbed his hand and they began with one another instead of against.
It felt fluid, natural even, like routine full of jumps that he had spent years perfecting. Nothing in his life, except skating, had ever been this… inborn to him.
All too soon, their dance ended, and Viktor missed Yuri's natural grace.
Until he and Chris danced half-naked on poles. That was definitely another highlight to the night.
After Yuri had finished all of his dancing for the night, he prattled about where he lived and his hot spring. He asked if Viktor would become his coach.
When he realized that he began falling in love Yuri Katsuki after those words came out of his mouth, Yuri's happy face was smiling up at him as Viktor slipped the gold band onto his right ring finger.
