Remus took Tonks' hand as they watched Hogwarts Castle burn down in flames.
"I love you, Tonks," Remus said, squeezing her hand tight. "And I always will love you." A tear ran down Tonks' cheek.
"I love you too, Remus," she smiled as more and more tears began tumbling down her face. "What... What will happen to Teddy if we... If we... Don't make it back?" She sobbed.
"He'll be looked after, Tonks, don't worry. He's in safe hands!" Remus comforted her.
"How long do you think it will take for Hogwarts to...?"
"Don't think like that," Remus sighed. "We need to be positive. We must believe that He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named will not succeed and we must believe that Harry will destroy him once and for all." Tonks put her head on Remus' chest. She wiped away her tears and sniffled.
"I don't want to go this way, Remus... I wanted to grow old with you and I wanted to be a proper mother and- and-" Remus held her in his arms and kissed her forehead.
"You are a proper mother, Tonks. Teddy is your son, yes?" Tonks laughed half-heartedly.
"I suppose you're right, Remus... You know I-" She was stopped by the screams from the courtyard below and wriggled out of Remus' arms to see what was happening.
"They've gained access to the castle!" One person yelled.
"They're here! They're here! Dear Merlin, they're here!" Another cried. Tonks stared at the many Death Eaters storming the castle.
"Remus..." She whispered.
"It's okay, Tonks. I've got you..." Remus held her in his arms again.
"Oh, Merlin... They're going to kill us all..." She whispered once more.
"Please, Tonks, don't think like that..."
"But that's all I can think about, Remus! They're going to find us and they're going to kill us!" Tears had begun rolling down her cheeks again and her eyes were becoming red.
"Don't cry, Tonks, don't cry..."
"Well, well, well, who do we have here?" Came a voice from behind them. Remus spun round and raised his wand at the person. It was a Death Eater. Though, this was no ordinary Death Eater...
"Bellatrix..." Tonks growled.
"Why, hello there, Nymphadora – my favourite little niece!"
"Oh, shut up! And don't call me Nymphadora!"
"Someone needs to learn their manners!" Bellatrix tutted. "If I were to do /this/," she pointed her wand at Remus, "Would you learn them?"
"You wouldn't dare..."
"Try me," she smirked. "AVADA KEDAVRA!" Green light poured out of Bellatrix's wand and hit Remus. Tonks watched in horror as her husband hit the ground with a thud.
"NO!" She screamed. "REMUS! NO!" She fell to her knees beside him, crying into his chest.
"And as for you..." Bellatrix laughed.
"Fine, do it. I'd rather be dead than live with an aunt like you! I've always hated you! You're a foul, loathsome, evil woman! It's not a surprise that Voldemort won't pay you any attention! You're useless and pathetic!"
"You take that back, you little brat!"
"Why should I? I'm only telling the truth!" She took Remus' hand, knowing what was about to happen next. "I'll see you soon, Remus..." She whispered. Closing her eyes, she waited for her aunt to cast the spell that had killed her husband and so many others... "Goodbye..."
"AVADA KEDAVRA!"
