SAD

Another V-Day ficcy! ...It just had to be written, you see. xD But yeah, this is TezuFuji. Also...I have a really bad title-making sense, if it is not too obvious. xD

x SAD x 600 words

The fangirls of Fuji Syusuke were crowding around him like a pack of rabid dogs. One of many on the fourteenth day of February. Eiji watched cheerfully, knowing that all the chocolates Fuji accepted would find their way to Eiji afterwards. Fuji was the best best friend that Eiji could have in this way. (Though some of the sadistic tendencies could go.)

Fuji sometimes complained about the holiday to Eiji, but Fuji had found a way to amuse himself this year.

'Um, Fuji-san...' One girl stuck out some homemade chocolate with hands that were shaking viciously, her head facing the floor. 'Happy Valentine's Day!' The piece of chocolate was absolutely huge. It'd make for many an after practice snack, Eiji decided.

Fuji bestowed one of his patented Fuji smiles, but said woefully, 'But I'm afraid I cannot. It's sad.' Eiji was puzzled. Sad. That was like, English for depressing. But what did that have to do with anything?

The girl took a second to comprehend the English word as well, and promptly burst into tears. She had probably spent hours on that chocolate, Eiji thought to himself, and couldn't help but wonder what Fuji was doing. He usually didn't reject the more ... avid fangirls, for fear of incurring their wrath.

'I can't accept chocolates from anybody,' Fuji then said to the crowd of fangirls, with all their faces suddenly drooping comically. 'I'm sorry. I don't feel like celebrating Valentine's Day.'

Soon enough, the crowd dispersed, with most of the fangirls going to swarm Tezuka instead, soon forming a crowd where the only part of Tezuka that could be seen was his brown hair above the fangirls' heads. Eiji couldn't help but feel sorry for Tezuka; he'd never be able to shake off those fangirls after they had been rejected by Fuji. After Fuji, Tezuka was probably the most popular boy at Seigaku. Not that Eiji didn't have his fair share of popularity; he just didn't invoke the same heart-stopping emotion that Fuji and Tezuka did.

'Nya, Fuji, what did you mean by sad?' Eiji asked, heading for his friend, who was now fangirl-crowd-less.

Fuji smiled. 'Singles Awareness Day.'

'Huh?'

'The initials of Singles Awareness Day in English are SAD,' Fuji explained easily. 'Eiji, you've had how many years of English classes now?'

Eiji shook his head. 'That's not what I meant though!'

Fuji gave Eiji a light cock of the head. 'What did you mean then?' Fuji looked the part of the innocently bemused boy, but Eiji knew better. Fuji often had that expression after he had executed a wonderful plan for complete pandemonium.

Eiji tried to think of a good way to phrase what he wanted to say. 'You're not single. You're dating Tezuka.'

Fuji chuckled, as if the fact that he was not single but was celebrating Singles Awareness Day was immaterial. 'So?'

'...Then why would you be celebrating Singles Awareness Day?' Eiji asked, trying to justify his own reasoning.

'Because Tezuka seemed a bit lonely standing there all by himself,' Fuji said, an innocuous smile on his visage.

Eiji waited. He could tell that there was more to the story. 'And?'

Fuji shrugged elegantly, which was possible simply because he was Fuji. 'Because he had decided that playing tennis with Atobe tonight is more important than eating dinner with me.'

Fuji started walking away, leaving Eiji hoping that Tezuka would quickly remedy the problem, namely Fuji, to avoid any (more) destruction and chaos, which Fuji would definitely cause.

And that Tezuka would give him his chocolate. Eiji had to get his supply of sugar from someone. x owari
