Arthur sat in the meeting room after hours, reading the newest American newspaper that had just come out while sipping a delicious black tea from a mug. He was so engrossed in the dreadful news ("Death Toll in Haiti nearing 200,000!") that he didn't even hear the door swing open, or the sound of heavy steps. Suddenly, his eyes were covered, and he jumped, nearly spilling his tea.
"Guess who!"
Arthur sighed and set the mug down. "Al, remove your hands this instant, you are not bloody funny!" Alfred pulled his hands back and put them on his shoulders. "You're no fun Arty, no fun at all." Arthur huffed loudly before sipping his tea. He then fixed the news paper and continued to read through the news. Not all of it was bad, but who read the news to hear good things? He frowned harder and harder.
"Al, what are you doing about relief? This IS your hemisphere, after all. Monroe wouldn't want you to just stand idly by after all." Alfred winced, that damned Doctrine was going to be the end of him. He moved out from behind him and sat in the seat next to him. "Red Cross is sending aid, and Salvation Army is collection donations. Plus, I think Brangelina are donating too." Al rested his head down on his arms, and closed his eyes. Meanwhile, England nodded his head approvingly. The room stayed quiet after that, except for the occasional crinkle of the newspaper.
"Hey Arty, knock knock."
"Alfred, I'm not in the mood for stupid jokes."
Alfred pouted.
"If you're serious all the time, you're going to get wrinkles and crows feet. Knock knock."
Arthur signed exasperatedly. "Who's there?" he said dramatically and rolled his eyes. Al smiled.
"Doctor."
Arthur sipped his tea, draining the mug. "Doctor wh—" he launched the mug at Alfred's head. It socked Al hard in the face, though it hardly hurt. Being the strongest country had its perks. He jumped up and started laughing. "GOT YOU GOT YOU!" He cried, pointing and laughing at Arthur's folly. Arthur jumped up, throwing the news paper down. "GET BACK HERE, I'M GOING TO TAN YOUR HIDE!" Alfred raced out of the room, while Arthur followed him, cursing insults and obscenities left and right.
