"Black, Bellatrix." Professor Dumbledore read off of the roster of first years.

Bellatrix shuffled over to the Transfiguration professor and plopped down on the stool that faced the entire Great Hall. She glared at the students who were staring at her, waiting for her to get sorted. Dumbledore then placed the sorting hat on her head.

"Ah, another Black," the sorting hat whispered suddenly, startling Bellatrix. "Calm down, I'm just a hat. I suppose to sort you by looking through-!"

"That's an invasion of privacy!" The black haired preteen huffed, crossing her arms.

"Hot-headed, snobbish, cunning, devious..." The hat seemed to ignore her previous comment.

"Hey! Are you ignoring-?"

"You seem to be very ambitious, sly, loyal..." Her previous question seemed to be answered as the hat continued to list off her personality traits.

"If you are planning on putting me in Hufflepuff, I will-!" she threatened, but was cut off by the hat chuckling.

"Oh no, you would scare them, and you are clearly not as… friendly… as the others." the hat replied.

"What are you trying to say?" Bellatrix exclaimed, temper rising.

"Oh nothing, nothing! I think we should eliminate Gryffindor. You wouldn't be very welcome there either."

"Better put me in Slytherin! I belong their just like the rest of the Blacks." she boasted.

"I wasn't going to put you in Ravenclaw, if that's what you're thinking. Not much study material are we?"

"Are you calling me stupid-!" she said, rather offended.

"SLYTHERIN!"

A/N I know its short but I really wanted to write her sorting… Just a quick one-shot I felt like writing.

(1/29/13) Author's Note: Well, I decided to edit all of my stories, even the small one shots. I know, I know, this is really bad and you don't really care, but I wrote this a while ago (more like two years...), and I wanted to fix my billion grammar error. I even had to fix the error that at the time Dumbledore was the one doing the sortings, because Dippet was still headmaster. Oh, and thanks to FlorenceMabel, for being amazing and translating this.
